Typeform vs Fillout 2026

Short answer: pick Typeform if branded, conversational forms and a growing AI lifecycle platform matter to your pipeline, pick Fillout if you want generous response limits, native Airtable and Notion sync, and a free plan that actually works at scale. Both land at 4.2/5 in our hands-on tests, but the gap at the feature level is wider than the equal score suggests.

The update most comparisons miss: Typeform launched an AI Engagement Platform in October 2025 and shipped Growth Flow in May 2026, turning its product into a full customer-lifecycle tool with enrichment, automations, and SMS follow-ups. Meanwhile, Fillout refreshed its pricing (Starter now $15/mo, Pro $40/mo, Business $75/mo) and added a free scheduling layer with 1,000 bookings a month included. Two different bets on where form builders go next.

Romain CochardCEO of Hack'celerationBoth score 4.2/5 overall. The criteria break the tie across five rounds.

Criterion by criterion, head to head

The same five criteria we scored on each tool's review page. Equal scores still get a clear pick.

Round 1 · Ease of use

01 Round 1: building the first form live.

Typeform
4.7/5
WinnerTypeform
Fillout
4.5/5
Our verdictEase of use · Winner : Typeform

Typeform takes this 4.7 to 4.5, and the difference is real but narrow. We set up the same 10-question lead form on both tools with a non-technical team member watching. Typeform's editor felt more guided: templates are polished, the logic jump builder is visual and forgiving, and the one-question-at-a-time output looks finished from minute one. Our tester had a working, branded form live in under 8 minutes.

Fillout is genuinely close. Its drag-and-drop canvas is cleaner than Jotform and the conditional logic clicks quickly. We built the same form in about 12 minutes, the extra time going to figuring out multi-page transitions and the automation workflow tab, which lives in a separate panel. One real catch: Fillout has no auto-save button, and two reviewers report losing work on a browser refresh. Typeform autosaves continuously. For a beginner who wants to look professional from form one, Typeform edges it. For someone already comfortable with no-code tools, the gap nearly disappears.

Typeform

Choose Typeform for the most polished out-of-the-box experience with minimal setup friction.

Fillout

Choose Fillout if you prefer a multi-question canvas and are comfortable with a separate automation panel.

Round 2 · Value for money

02 Round 2: where the real bill lands.

Typeform
3.2/5
WinnerFillout
Fillout
4.0/5
Our verdictValue for money · Winner : Fillout

Fillout wins this decisively, 4.0 to 3.2. The structural reason: Typeform's free plan caps at 10 responses a month, and when you hit it, your forms go into private mode and stop accepting submissions entirely. At $29/mo for just 100 responses on Basic, a busy launch week can burn through your quota in 48 hours. We saw this happen on a client product launch: forms silenced mid-campaign, no warning, just a hard stop.

Fillout's free plan gives 1,000 responses per month with unlimited forms and seats, no credit card, no expiry. The $15/mo Starter covers 2,000 responses with all question types unlocked. At the mid-tier, Fillout Pro at $40/mo matches Typeform Plus at $50/mo for monthly pricing but covers 5,000 responses versus 1,000. The one counter-argument: if you need Typeform's Growth Flow lifecycle suite (enrichment, SMS follow-ups, Salesforce native), the value equation shifts at the higher Growth Flow tier ($291/mo annual). But for the 90% of users between free and $100/mo, Fillout's value is materially better.

Typeform

Choose Typeform if Growth Flow's lifecycle automations and AI enrichment are in your budget and use case.

Fillout

Round 3 · Features and depth

03 Round 3: AI depth and platform power.

Typeform
4.6/5
WinnerTypeform
Fillout
4.5/5
Our verdictFeatures and depth · Winner : Typeform

Typeform takes this 4.6 to 4.5, and it is entirely down to the AI and lifecycle depth it shipped in 2025 and 2026. The October 2025 AI Engagement Platform added FAQ with AI, Clarify with AI, and video/audio blocks. The February 2026 AI Data Enrichment layer automatically appends contact profiles to every submission, with a claimed 92% B2B match rate and 71% B2C. The May 2026 Growth Flow combines enrichment, nurturing, SMS follow-ups, and Salesforce into a single platform. If your funnel is about qualifying and converting leads, Typeform now does things Fillout simply does not.

Fillout punches back on the operations side. Its bidirectional Airtable sync, built-in scheduling (Google Calendar, Outlook, Zoom, Teams, all free), PDF generation, login forms, and pre-fill from database records make it genuinely powerful for intake and ops workflows. The honest bémol on Typeform: its core form builder is the same one-question-at-a-time format it has always been; the new AI layer is mostly an add-on, not a redesign. For building complex multi-path forms quickly, Fillout's multi-question pages and automation panel are faster in practice.

Typeform

Choose Typeform for AI-powered lead enrichment, lifecycle automations and conversational form depth.

Round 4 · Customer support and assistance

04 Round 4: who answers when it breaks.

Typeform
4.3/5
WinnerTypeform
Fillout
3.5/5
Our verdictCustomer support and assistance · Winner : Typeform

Typeform wins this 4.3 to 3.5. Its support is more mature: 200+ knowledge base articles, active community forum with 10,000+ members, email response within 24 to 48 hours on Basic and Plus, priority support on Business, and dedicated account management on Enterprise and Growth Flow. We opened two tickets in six months (a Zapier sync issue and a billing question) and had actionable replies within 30 hours both times.

Fillout's support team is responsive and genuinely helpful (we got a clear JSON example on a webhook question within 24 hours), but its community forum is thin compared to Typeform's, and live chat is only available on the Business plan at $75/mo. One G2 reviewer flagged having features removed without notice after a billing glitch, which points to a support communication gap you would not expect from a polished tool. Priority support gating on the top plan is common in this space, but Fillout's community moat is not yet deep enough to compensate.

Typeform

Choose Typeform if knowledge base depth, community forum and proven ticket responsiveness matter.

Fillout

Choose Fillout if you are self-sufficient and want responsive email from a small, fast team.

Round 5 · Available integrations

05 Round 5: native connectors vs breadth.

Typeform
4.5/5
WinnerTypeform
Fillout
4.0/5
Our verdictAvailable integrations · Winner : Typeform

Typeform edges this 4.5 to 4.0, but the story is nuanced. Typeform's native catalog covers 100+ direct integrations including Calendly, Slack, Stripe, Klaviyo, HubSpot, and Salesforce (native on Growth Flow), plus Zapier for 5,000+ additional connections and a well-documented API. The breadth for marketing stacks is hard to beat, and the Growth Flow tier adds native CRM sync that removes the need for middleware entirely on sales workflows.

Fillout scores 4.0 because its native set (50+) is narrower, and the big CRM integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce) require Zapier or Make as middleware. That said, where Fillout is native it is very good: the bidirectional Airtable sync is best-in-class, the Notion connector is smooth, and the Google Ads conversion tracking is native and accurate. The free scheduling layer connecting to Google Calendar, Outlook, Zoom and Teams is a genuine native strength most integration lists undercount. The honest catch: Fillout has no native email marketing connectors (Mailchimp, ConvertKit require Zapier), which is a gap for campaign-heavy teams.

Typeform

Choose Typeform for the widest native marketing stack coverage and native Salesforce on Growth Flow.

Fillout

Choose Fillout for Airtable/Notion power users and teams whose integration needs center on databases.

FAQ · 10 questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Typeform free to use?
Technically yes, but Typeform's free plan limits you to 10 responses per month and when the cap is hit, your forms go into private mode and stop accepting submissions with no warning. That is not a usable free tier for any active campaign. Fillout's free plan, by contrast, includes 1,000 responses per month permanently with no credit card required. If free-tier usability matters, Fillout wins by a large margin.
  • Why is Fillout cheaper than Typeform?
Fillout prices per plan without aggressive response tiering. Its Starter plan is $15/mo for 2,000 responses versus Typeform Basic at $29/mo for only 100. At the mid-tier, Fillout Pro covers 5,000 responses for $40/mo against Typeform Plus at $50/mo for 1,000. The gap compounds at volume: Fillout Business at $75/mo has unlimited responses, while Typeform Business at $83/mo still caps at 10,000. Typeform's premium reflects its AI platform and branded UX, which may justify the cost for conversion-focused teams.
  • What is Typeform Growth Flow?
Growth Flow is Typeform's lifecycle automation suite, launched May 2026. It combines form capture, AI-powered contact enrichment (92% B2B match rate), lead nurturing sequences, SMS follow-ups, and native Salesforce integration in a single platform. It is priced at $291/mo on an annual plan. For teams that previously stitched together Typeform, Clearbit, and a CRM, Growth Flow reduces that stack. For teams that do not need enrichment or SMS, it is overkill.
  • Does Fillout integrate with Airtable bidirectionally?
Yes, and this is Fillout's clearest differentiator over Typeform. Fillout connects natively to Airtable and can both create new records from form submissions and update existing records, all configured once through a field-mapping interface. Typeform has no native Airtable connector and requires Zapier or Make as middleware, adding cost and latency. If Airtable is your primary database, Fillout is the practical choice.
  • Which form builder is better for lead generation?
Typeform has the edge for lead gen, specifically because of its conversational UX (one-question-at-a-time) and the AI data enrichment layer added in February 2026, which automatically appends company, job title, and contact data to submissions with a 92% B2B match rate. Those enriched profiles feed directly into Typeform Contacts and can trigger automated follow-up sequences. Fillout's forms convert well but do not enrich submissions automatically, and the standard multi-question layout does not outperform Typeform on completion-rate benchmarks.
  • Can Typeform or Fillout handle scheduling?
Fillout has built-in scheduling as a free feature: connect Google Calendar, Outlook, Zoom, or Teams and embed a booking step directly in the form, with 1,000 bookings per month included on the free plan. Typeform does not have native scheduling and relies on a Calendly integration, which means an external paid tool and an extra redirect step. For forms that combine intake and booking in one flow, Fillout is significantly ahead.
  • Typeform vs Fillout vs Tally: which to pick?
Three different bets. Typeform is the conversion-and-AI play: best completion rates, growing lifecycle platform, premium pricing. Fillout is the automation-and-database play: Airtable/Notion native, built-in scheduling, competitive pricing. Tally is the minimalist play: unlimited free responses, Notion-like editor, no frills. Pick Typeform if lead quality and branded UX drive revenue. Pick Fillout if your workflow connects to Airtable or Notion. Pick Tally if you want unlimited responses at zero cost and do not need deep integrations.
  • What happens when Typeform hits its response limit?
When a Typeform account hits its monthly response cap, all forms automatically switch to private mode and stop accepting new submissions until the billing cycle resets. There is no overage fee and no warning email before the cutoff in all cases. This hard stop model can silently kill a campaign mid-flight. Fillout does not use a hard-stop model on its paid plans (Business has unlimited responses), and even the free plan's 1,000-response cap is far more generous for typical use.
  • Is Fillout GDPR compliant?
Fillout is GDPR compliant with data processing agreements available for Business plan users. It stores data on US and EU servers with a region selector and allows data export and deletion on request. Typeform is also GDPR compliant, with Frankfurt EU data centers for EU customers, DPA available, and enhanced compliance tools on Business and Enterprise. Both are usable for EU audiences. For healthcare specifically, Typeform offers HIPAA-compliant configurations on Enterprise; Fillout does not explicitly advertise HIPAA support.
  • Can Fillout generate PDFs from form submissions?
Yes, PDF generation is a native Fillout feature available on the free plan, which is unusual in the form-builder category. You can auto-generate a PDF from any submission using a template and send it by email or save it to a connected tool. Typeform does not have native PDF generation and would require a Zapier workflow connecting to a document tool like DocuSign or PDF.co. For intake, contracts, or delivery confirmations that need a PDF output, Fillout is the faster path.
