How Much Does SmartSuite Cost?

The real price of the no-code work OS, plan by plan, seat minimums included.

Short answer: SmartSuite starts at $15/seat/month on the Team plan with annual billing ($20 monthly), with a 14-day free trial of the Professional plan, no credit card needed. But two things reshape the math in 2026. First, the permanent free plan is gone, only the trial remains. Second, every plan carries a minimum number of billed seats (3 on Team, 5 on Professional, 10 on Enterprise), so even solo your real entry ticket is $45/month. We walk through every plan, every seat floor, and what you actually pay based on your team size.

What each SmartSuite plan costs

These are SmartSuite's three paid plans, plus the custom tier. Pricing is per seat, and every plan carries a minimum number of billed seats that most pricing tables skip: that floor, not the unit price, sets your real entry cost. Prices shown are annual, the lowest; monthly runs $4 to $5 more per seat. SmartSuite AI is included on every paid plan.

Prices checked June 2026 on smartsuite.com/pricing and cross-referenced with the official help center. Automation quotas differ across SmartSuite's own pages (Team quoted at anywhere from 5,000 to 25,000/month depending on the source), so confirm on the official page. Enterprise shows as custom quote; the roughly $50/seat figure and 10-seat minimum come from the help center. A custom Signature plan also sits at the top of the range.

Mind the entry price

The seat minimum changes everything

The per-seat price you see does not tell you what you really pay, because every plan enforces a floor of billed seats. Here is what pushes the SmartSuite bill up.

Minimum billed seats

This is the real entry price. Team enforces 3 seats ($45/month) even if you are solo, Professional 5 seats ($160/month) and Enterprise 10 seats (~$500/month). For a solo or a pair, you pay for seats you never fill.

The Team to Professional jump

Moving from Team to Professional is +$17/seat AND +2 minimum seats. The entry ticket leaps from $45 to $160/month. And the API and webhooks are locked below Professional, so if you wire SmartSuite into your stack, you pay for that jump.

No more free plan in 2026

SmartSuite retired its free plan: removed for new signups on January 1, 2026, and existing Free workspaces expire on July 1, 2026. Only the 14-day Professional trial remains. So the first paid dollar arrives sooner than it used to.

Record limits and governance

5,000 records per solution on Team fill up fast on a large dataset and force an upgrade. And all the governance (SSO, SCIM, audit logs, DLP, EU residency) is reserved for Enterprise, which is quote-only.

  • Solo or a pair? You still pay for 3 seats on Team.
  • Need the API? Budget for Professional, not Team.
  • Want a permanent free plan? It is gone, use the 14-day trial.
  • Handling sensitive data? Compliance lives on Enterprise, quote-only.
  • AI is included everywhere: no extra cost, unlike ClickUp.

How we size the real cost

SmartSuite's per-seat price does not tell you what you really pay, because the seat minimum sets a floor. To size the real cost, we multiply the annual per-seat price by the seats actually billed (at least the plan's minimum). Here is the breakdown.

Entry prices checked June 2026 on the official pages. ClickUp ($7) and monday Basic ($9) are cheaper per seat than SmartSuite Team ($15), but monday also enforces a 3-seat minimum. Airtable Team, at $20/seat, is pricier per seat than SmartSuite. SmartSuite earns its price mainly through work OS depth and governance controls inherited from the GRC world, with AI included where ClickUp charges extra.

The verdict

So, is SmartSuite expensive?

Our take after testing it: the per-seat price is fair for a work OS this complete, but the seat minimum and the end of the free plan weigh on small teams. Here is when it pays off.

Good value if…

You are a team of at least 3 to 5 who wants a single tool for projects, processes and data. At $15/seat with AI included and enterprise-grade permissions, SmartSuite is better armed than monday or ClickUp on data and governance, at a reasonable per-seat rate.

Less appealing if…

You are solo, a pair, or you want a permanent free plan. The 3-seat minimum makes you pay $45/month on Team no matter what, and the free plan is gone in 2026. In that case, ClickUp ($7, Free Forever) or monday is cheaper to get started.

The verdict

SmartSuite is an excellent work OS at a fair per-seat price, as long as you are a team and you think in billed seats, not unit price. Stay on Team until you need the API, pay annually, and add seats only as you grow.

  • Pay annually: on Team that is roughly 25% off ($15 vs $20).
  • Stay on Team until you need the API or advanced permissions.
  • Count billed seats, not unit price: the minimum sets your floor.
  • Use the 14-day Professional trial, no card, to validate the tool.
  • Watch the 5,000 records/solution cap on Team so you are not forced to upgrade.
Pricing FAQ

Frequently asked questions about SmartSuite pricing

  • How much does SmartSuite cost per month?
SmartSuite starts at $15/seat/month on the Team plan with annual billing, or $20/seat monthly. But every plan enforces a minimum number of billed seats: 3 on Team, which pushes the real entry ticket to $45/month even solo. The Professional plan is $32/seat (5-seat minimum, so $160/month) and Enterprise sits around $50/seat by quote, with a 10-seat minimum. The right move is to count the seats actually billed, not the unit price on the page.
  • How much does SmartSuite cost per year?
With annual billing, the Team plan runs about $540/year for the 3-seat minimum ($15 × 3 × 12), and Professional about $1,920/year for the 5-seat minimum ($32 × 5 × 12). Annual saves roughly 25% on Team versus monthly ($15 vs $20 per seat) and about 11% on Professional. Beyond the minimum, each extra seat adds at the plan's rate. Always confirm the exact price on the official page before paying, since tiers can change.
  • Does SmartSuite have a free plan?
Not in 2026. SmartSuite retired its permanent free plan: it was removed for new signups on January 1, 2026, and existing Free workspaces expire on July 1, 2026. All that remains is a 14-day free trial of the Professional plan, with no credit card and no automatic charge at the end. When the trial expires, the workspace enters a blocked state: you can extend the trial up to 28 days total, move to a paid plan, or delete the workspace. For ongoing use you need a paid plan.
  • Why does SmartSuite enforce a seat minimum?
It is SmartSuite's pricing model, and it is what changes the real entry price. Each plan bills a minimum number of seats whether you use them or not: 3 on Team, 5 on Professional and 10 on Enterprise. In practice, a solo user on the Team plan still pays for 3 seats, so $45/month. That floor is often missing from pricing tables, yet it weighs more than the unit price for a small team. Beyond the minimum, you pay for each extra seat at the plan's rate.
  • How much does SmartSuite cost for a small team?
For a team of 5 on the Team plan, expect about $75/month with annual billing (5 seats × $15). If you need the API, webhooks or advanced permissions, you move to Professional, where the 5-seat minimum brings the bill to about $160/month. SmartSuite AI is included on both plans at no extra cost. Until you need the API or large record volumes, staying on Team is the best value for a small team.
  • Is AI included in SmartSuite's price?
Yes. SmartSuite AI is included on every paid plan, from Team to Enterprise, with no separate add-on to buy. You get the AI features (generation, record assistance, AI Agent Studio depending on the plan) within the per-seat price. That is an advantage over ClickUp, which charges AI as a separate add-on that can inflate the bill. Note that some advanced AI features may depend on the plan, so check the detail on the official page for the tier you are eyeing.
  • What is the price difference between Team and Professional?
The Team plan is $15/seat/month annual with a 3-seat minimum, and Professional is $32/seat with a 5-seat minimum. So the gap is not just $17 per seat: the minimum also rises from 3 to 5 seats, which jumps the entry ticket from $45 to $160/month. Professional unlocks the API and webhooks, advanced permissions, folders, the Gmail/Outlook integration and raises the cap to 100,000 records per solution. If you do not need the API, Team is plenty.
  • Is SmartSuite more expensive than monday or ClickUp?
At entry, yes. ClickUp starts at $7/seat on Unlimited and monday at $9/seat on Basic, versus $15/seat for SmartSuite Team. ClickUp also keeps a real Free Forever plan, and monday a limited free plan, while SmartSuite no longer has a free plan in 2026. In return, SmartSuite is deeper on data management and governance (permissions, audit logs) and includes AI, where ClickUp charges extra. Airtable Team, at $20/seat, is itself pricier per seat than SmartSuite.
  • How much does SmartSuite Enterprise cost?
The Enterprise plan is quote-only, but SmartSuite's help center quotes a rate around $50/seat/month with a 10-seat minimum, so a floor of about $500/month with annual billing. It unlocks full governance: SSO, SCIM, audit logs, IP restrictions, DLP, European data residency and premium support, with up to 400,000 records per solution and 500 GB of storage. A fully custom Signature plan sits above it for organizations with specific needs. Request a quote for both tiers.
  • Can I cancel SmartSuite easily?
Yes, the subscription is managed from your account and you can adjust the seat count or change plan as your headcount shifts. The watch-out is the seat minimums: you cannot drop below 3 seats on Team, 5 on Professional or 10 on Enterprise, so your room to scale down is limited. If you are closing an existing Free workspace, export your records and attachments before the July 1, 2026 expiration, since data is kept only six months before deletion. Always export your data before you leave.
