Brevo vs Drip 2026

Short answer: pick Brevo if you have a large contact list and send in moderate volume, operate in Europe, or need multi-channel beyond email. Pick Drip if you run a DTC ecommerce store on Shopify or WooCommerce and can justify the price with measurable revenue attribution.

The angle nobody in the SERP covers: Drip SMS is unavailable to new accounts as of 2026 (US-only legacy restriction), and Brevo suffered a full-platform power-failure outage on February 23, 2026. Both facts matter for your decision. The billing models diverge so sharply that at 50,000 contacts sending 100,000 emails per month, Brevo costs roughly $55/mo versus Drip at $699/mo.

Romain CochardCEO of Hack'celerationBrevo scores 4.2/5, Drip 3.8/5. The billing model gap explains most of the difference.

Criterion by criterion, head to head

The same five criteria scored on each tool's review page. Exact scores mirrored from those reviews.

Round 1 · Ease of use

01 Round 1: getting the first campaign live.

Brevo
4.5/5
WinnerBrevo
Drip
3.8/5
Our verdictEase of use · Winner : Brevo

Brevo earns its 4.5 with a genuinely fast ramp. The onboarding walkthrough covers SPF/DKIM authentication in under 10 minutes, the drag-and-drop builder gets a first campaign out the door in 15 to 20 minutes, and the AI content generator accelerates copy for teams without a dedicated writer. We imported a 15,000-contact CSV in under 2 minutes. For any non-ecommerce context, this is the quickest path from signup to live campaign in the category.

Drip's 3.8 reflects a split experience. For Shopify brands, the one-click integration is genuinely immediate: orders, cart events, and product views start flowing without any manual mapping, and the 40+ pre-built playbooks let you launch a real cart abandonment sequence in under an hour. The friction surfaces once you move beyond those starter playbooks. The distinction between Drip's "series" and "workflow" objects confuses new users, and complex multi-branch automations become hard to navigate as the canvas grows, a consistent complaint in the G2 reviews. Brevo also flags advanced conditional logic as less granular than ActiveCampaign for power users, which is a real ceiling.

Net: Brevo for any non-ecommerce context or first-time user. Drip for a Shopify or WooCommerce store that wants behavioral automation from day one and can absorb the learning curve on the advanced layer.

Brevo

Choose Brevo if you want the fastest path to a live campaign, regardless of stack.

Drip

Choose Drip if you run a Shopify store and need behavioral automation on the first day.

Round 2 · Value for money

02 Round 2: where the bill actually lands.

Brevo
4.5/5
WinnerBrevo
Drip
2.8/5
Our verdictValue for money · Winner : Brevo

This is the most decisive round. Brevo's pay-per-send model means a 100,000-contact list sending 20,000 emails per month costs roughly $16/mo on Standard. The same scenario on Drip costs $1,399/mo (100k contacts tier). That is not a small price difference, it is structural. Brevo charges for the emails you actually send; Drip charges for every subscriber in your account whether you emailed them or not.

One honest Brevo catch: the Starter plan includes a Brevo logo in the footer. Removing it costs $9 to $11 per month as an add-on, which means the real entry price for unbranded email is closer to $17 to $19/mo. Annual billing saves 10%. The other catch: a major power-failure outage on February 23, 2026 took down all Brevo services simultaneously, and StatusGator has tracked 167 incidents since September 2023. Deliverability problems, when they happen, are real and documented.

Drip's honest catch: no free plan, $39/mo minimum, contact-based scaling that jumps to $699/mo at 50,000 contacts and $1,399/mo at 100,000. Annual billing described as a legacy option for existing customers, not actively promoted to new signups. SMS is a separate add-on from $39/mo, not included in base price. The only scenario where Drip's price is justified is one where behavioral ecommerce automation demonstrably drives enough revenue to cover the premium.

Brevo

Choose Brevo on value in nearly every scenario unless ecommerce attribution covers Drip's premium.

Drip

Choose Drip if you can trace $7,000+/mo in email-attributed revenue at the 50k contacts tier.

Round 3 · Features and depth

03 Round 3: breadth versus ecommerce depth.

Brevo
4.0/5
WinnerDrip
Drip
4.3/5
Our verdictFeatures and depth · Winner : Drip

Drip wins this round with its 4.3 versus Brevo's 4.0, and the gap is specific: Drip's behavioral automation is built around real ecommerce data, not grafted onto a general ESP. The 40+ pre-built workflow playbooks (cart abandonment, win-back, post-purchase, review requests, LTV-based VIP flows) import with logic intact and run against live store events. Dynamic product blocks pull top-selling or recently-viewed items directly from your connected store. Revenue attribution tracks actual sales per campaign, not just opens and clicks. We ran a cart abandonment workflow from playbook import to first test send in under 45 minutes on a connected WooCommerce store.

Brevo's honest counter is breadth. It covers email, SMS, WhatsApp, web push, landing pages, and live chat in a single interface. Drip has none of that outside email (and SMS only for legacy accounts). Brevo's AI content generator is a real time-saver. The CRM layer is basic contact management rather than a full sales pipeline, but for an SMB that does not need Salesforce, it covers the job.

The two Drip gaps worth naming: A/B testing tops out at subject lines only (no multivariate, no A/B within automation workflows), and there is no landing page builder. Klaviyo, at a comparable price point, includes both. For brands running rigorous conversion optimization, those absences add up. For brands whose primary job is ecommerce retention automation, Drip's feature set is the better fit.

Brevo

Choose Brevo for multi-channel breadth, non-ecommerce use cases, or if landing pages matter.

Drip

Choose Drip for ecommerce automation depth, behavioral segmentation, and revenue attribution.

Round 4 · Customer support and assistance

04 Round 4: who answers when it breaks.

Brevo
4.0/5
WinnerDrip
Drip
4.2/5
Our verdictCustomer support and assistance · Winner : Drip

Drip takes this 4.2 to 4.0, and the gap is earned. Multiple long-term Drip users with 3+ years on the platform call its support the best they have experienced across any ESP. A COO in the reviews writes: "You have a real person on the line with you and there has never been a problem they haven't been able to solve." That level of specificity across independent reviews is credible. Drip resolves spam tag issues through support (no self-serve option), handles subscriber reactivations directly, and offers 90-day personalized onboarding for accounts at 17,500+ contacts. Live chat unlocks from $99/mo.

Brevo's support scores a solid 4.0 with 24 to 48-hour email turnaround on paid plans, a 200+ article knowledge base, and support staff who consistently demonstrate product knowledge. The February 2026 full-platform outage, though, is the honest context for any reliability assessment: all services went down simultaneously due to a power failure. StatusGator tracked 167 Brevo incidents since September 2023. Support that resolves tickets well cannot compensate for platform-level availability issues at the infrastructure layer. Live chat on Brevo is gated to Business and above; phone support is Professional and above. On the Standard plan at $16/mo, email-only support is the reality.

For smaller accounts, both tools gate their best support to higher tiers. Drip's 4.2 reflects the genuine quality of the human interaction when you reach support; Brevo's 4.0 reflects reliability that is good but not without documented incidents.

Brevo

Choose Brevo if email-only support at 24 to 48h response is acceptable for your plan tier.

Drip

Choose Drip if support quality and response speed are a deciding factor in your ESP evaluation.

Round 5 · Available integrations

05 Round 5: breadth versus ecommerce depth.

Brevo
4.0/5
WinnerBrevo
Drip
3.8/5
Our verdictAvailable integrations · Winner : Brevo

Brevo edges this 4.0 to 3.8 on breadth. The 150+ native integrations cover WooCommerce, Shopify, WordPress, BigCommerce, and Zapier/Make (which extends to 5,000+ apps). The REST API ships with SDKs in PHP, Node.js, Python, and Ruby. On a client project, we wired a custom webinar registration system into Brevo via API in an afternoon. No native Salesforce integration is the main gap, that requires Zapier.

Drip's 3.8 reflects depth in the right lane rather than broad catalog coverage. Its Shopify and WooCommerce native connections are not just sync, they pull real-time cart events, order history, and browsing behavior as a live data pipeline. BigCommerce, Magento, Gumroad, Facebook Lead Ads, and Facebook Custom Audiences are also native. Zapier covers another 750+ apps. The gaps are Wix (no native integration), narrower third-party app coverage outside core ecommerce platforms, and help documentation with known gaps for non-standard integration troubleshooting.

For a general business stack, Brevo's broader integration surface wins. For a brand whose entire stack lives inside Shopify, WooCommerce, or BigCommerce, Drip's native ecommerce data pipeline outperforms Brevo's more generic connector for the same platforms.

Brevo

Choose Brevo for a broader integration surface across general business tools and APIs.

Drip

Choose Drip for the native ecommerce data pipeline on Shopify, WooCommerce or BigCommerce.

FAQ · 10 questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Brevo free to use?
Yes. Brevo offers a permanent free plan with no credit card required: 300 emails per day (around 9,000 per month) with unlimited contacts, forever. Free emails carry a Brevo logo in the footer. The Starter plan from $8.08/mo removes the daily cap and scales by email volume. Drip has no free plan, it offers a 14-day trial only. (sender.net. June 2026)
  • Is Drip good for SMS marketing in 2026?
Not for new accounts. As of June 2026, Drip SMS is unavailable to new accounts. SMS is a legacy feature restricted to existing users (US-only, add-on starting at $39/mo), and Drip's release notes from February and March 2026 reference an upcoming SMS product rebuild. New brands evaluating Drip for multi-channel should assume no SMS capability until official confirmation from Drip. Brevo includes SMS on paid plans as the direct alternative. (checkthat.ai, sender.net/reviews/drip/pricing. June 2026)
  • Brevo vs Drip vs Klaviyo: which should you choose?
Three distinct profiles. Brevo wins on cost and multi-channel breadth: pay-per-send, unlimited contacts, EU hosting, SMS and WhatsApp included. At 2,500 contacts: Brevo $8/mo, Drip $39/mo, Klaviyo $45/mo. At 50,000 contacts: Brevo ~$55/mo, Drip $699/mo, Klaviyo ~$700/mo. Klaviyo adds predictive analytics (predicted LTV, churn risk, next order date) that neither Brevo nor Drip offers. Drip wins on support quality and ecommerce-native automation depth over Klaviyo. Choose Brevo for budget and multi-channel, Klaviyo for ecommerce and predictive analytics, Drip for ecommerce and support quality. (marketingautomationinsider.com. June 2026)
  • Is Brevo GDPR compliant?
Yes. Brevo is a French company (founded Paris 2007, rebranded from Sendinblue in 2023), ISO 27001:2022 certified, with data stored on EU servers in France, Germany, and GCP Belgium. It includes double opt-in, one-click unsubscribe, consent management, and a data processing agreement available directly in the account. Note: Brevo uses some US-based sub-processors for CDN and analytics, so trace metadata may cross EU borders. Drip has no equivalent EU compliance posture for businesses subject to GDPR. (brevo.com/features/data-security, scrupp.com. June 2026)
  • Can you migrate from Drip to Brevo?
Yes. Brevo supports contact import via CSV (15,000 contacts in under 2 minutes in our testing). Automation workflows must be rebuilt manually. Drip's ecommerce-native playbooks have no direct equivalent in Brevo, so brands migrating should budget 5 to 15 hours for workflow reconstruction depending on the complexity of current automations. The key thing you give up moving from Drip to Brevo is behavioral revenue attribution and dynamic ecommerce segmentation; the main thing you gain is dramatically lower cost and EU-native data hosting.
  • Brevo vs Drip for Shopify: which is better?
Drip is purpose-built for Shopify: one-click integration pulling real-time cart events, orders, browsing behavior, and LTV data immediately. Its 40+ pre-built Shopify playbooks launch without building from scratch. Brevo connects to Shopify natively as a general ESP, it syncs customer data and enables cart abandonment, but lacks Drip's native revenue attribution and LTV-based dynamic segmentation. For a Shopify brand with $50k+/mo in revenue where email attribution matters, Drip is the stronger technical fit. For a bootstrapped Shopify store needing budget email marketing, Brevo wins decisively on cost. (in-repo drip.json and brevo.json, 2026)
  • What is the cheapest email marketing tool for a large contact list?
Brevo is structurally the cheapest for businesses with large lists and moderate send frequency, because it charges per email sent rather than per contact stored. A 100,000-contact list sending 20,000 emails per month costs roughly $16/mo on Brevo Standard; the same scenario costs $1,399/mo on Drip. Omnisend and Mailchimp also charge per contact like Drip. If your contact list is large but your sending frequency is low, Brevo's pay-per-send model saves more money as the list grows. (sender.net. June 2026)
  • Does Brevo have deliverability issues?
Brevo's deliverability is generally solid but has documented incidents. One G2 reviewer reported delivery rate dropping to 68% on a warm list versus Mailchimp's 97% (though this is a single data point). More structurally: Brevo experienced 167 incidents since September 2023 (StatusGator), including a major power-failure outage on February 23, 2026 that took down email delivery, automation, API services, and account management simultaneously. For businesses where email delivery reliability is mission-critical, factor this track record into the decision. (status.brevo.com post-mortem 2026-02-23; statusgator.com; in-repo brevo.json review d13)
  • Brevo vs Drip for WooCommerce: which is better?
Drip's native WooCommerce integration pulls order history, product views, and cart events as live behavioral data, enabling dynamic segmentation and revenue attribution that update automatically from real purchase activity. Brevo's WooCommerce plugin (100,000+ active installations) syncs customer data and supports cart abandonment workflows in about 10 minutes, but lacks Drip's behavioral depth. For a WooCommerce store under 5,000 subscribers or budget-constrained: Brevo at $8 to $16/mo versus Drip at $89 to $154/mo. For a brand with 10,000+ subscribers needing serious retention automation: Drip's WooCommerce integration justifies the cost premium. (in-repo brevo.json and drip.json, 2026)
  • How does Drip's active contact billing work, and are there hidden costs?
Drip bills on active contacts but does not publicly define the term. How unsubscribes, bounced contacts, and mid-cycle contact spikes affect tier billing is not explicitly documented, if your list grows beyond a tier threshold mid-month, you may be charged at the higher tier. SMS is a separate add-on starting at $39/mo (currently unavailable to new accounts as of 2026). Annual billing is described as a legacy option for existing customers, not actively available to new signups. Budget for contact list growth in your Drip cost model: the jump from 6,000 contacts ($99/mo) to 17,500 ($249/mo) to 32,500 ($489/mo) arrives faster than most DTC brands expect. (checkthat.ai.
