Attio vs Sellsy 2026

Short answer: pick Attio if your team is global, tech-savvy, and does not need built-in invoicing; pick Sellsy if you are a French SMB facing the September 2026 e-invoicing mandate and want CRM, quotes, and compliance in one tool.

The angle nobody covers in English: zero direct Attio vs Sellsy comparison pages exist. Attio launched a hosted MCP server in 2026 that lets Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor read and write CRM records via natural language. Sellsy obtained DGFiP Plateforme Agréée approval in October 2024, making it one of the few CRMs that handles France’s mandatory e-invoicing with no third party needed. Those two facts alone decide most of this match.

The same five criteria scored on each tool’s individual review page. Scores are fixed from those reviews.

Round 1 · Ease of use

01 Round 1: getting the first pipeline live.

Attio
4.0/5
WinnerAttio
Sellsy
3.4/5
Our verdictEase of use · Winner : Attio

Attio wins this 4.0 to 3.4, and the gap is real. The Notion-like interface meant 15 G2 reviewers described it as intuitive and elegant; first custom object setup ran about 15 minutes in our tests, and Gmail sync was 3 clicks. Filtering 50k+ records happens in milliseconds with no lag. The flip side: advanced automation workflows are not intuitive. Multiple reviewers spent 2+ hours getting conditional triggers right, and the “too flexible” problem is real, two people on our team were lost for three months on lists and attributes because Attio doesn’t work like a typical Salesforce or HubSpot.

Sellsy took 2–3 hours for initial pipeline and template configuration in our SMB client tests. The interface is functional but feels slightly dated next to modern SaaS tools. The team of 4 needed 45 minutes for basics, then two additional sessions for advanced features. Navigation between modules (CRM, invoicing, projects) requires multiple clicks. Where Sellsy earns its score: quote and invoice creation is genuinely smooth with ready-to-use templates, and the 360° client view is well-organised. Not a tool that overwhelms, but also not the fastest to master.

Attio

Choose Attio for modern SaaS teams comfortable with flexible, object-based CRMs.

Sellsy

Choose Sellsy for teams whose main flow is quote-to-invoice, not pure CRM flexibility.

Round 2 · Value for money

02 Round 2: where the bill actually lands.

Attio
4.0/5
WinnerAttio
Sellsy
3.2/5
Our verdictValue for money · Winner : Attio

Attio takes this 4.0 to 3.2, primarily because of the genuine free plan. Attio Free covers 3 seats, 50k records, real data enrichment, and email sync, no credit card required. For a 5-person team on Attio Plus (annual), the bill lands at $145/month ($1,740/year). Annual vs monthly saves $420/year on that team.

Sellsy has no free plan. The minimum entry is 2 users on an annual commitment. The Sales+Invoicing bundle (the most relevant plan for most buyers) starts at €49/user/month Standard or €89/user/month Evolution. A 5-person Evolution team pays €445/month (€5,340/year), roughly three times Attio Plus for the same headcount. Sellsy justifies this with integrated e-invoicing, electronic signature (saves a separate DocuSign subscription), and French-language support. For a French company with mandatory invoicing, the bundle math changes: Attio Pro at $345/month (5 users) plus a separate PA tool at ~€42/month (3 users × €14) totals about €234/month, cheaper than Sellsy Evolution at €267/month for 3 users, but you manage two tools.

The honest catch on Attio: the dual credit-pool billing (seat credits for Ask-Attio AI queries, workspace credits for automations) can force an earlier-than-expected Pro upgrade for AI-heavy teams on the Plus plan. The catch on Sellsy: the 2-user minimum eliminates solo operators and freelancers entirely.

Attio

Choose Attio for startups not needing invoicing, or anyone wanting a genuine free entry point.

Sellsy

Choose Sellsy when the integrated billing, e-signature, and PA compliance offset the higher price.

Round 3 · Features and depth

03 Round 3: raw power and category leadership.

Attio
4.5/5
WinnerAttio
Sellsy
4.2/5
Our verdictFeatures and depth · Winner : Attio

Attio edges this 4.5 to 4.2, and the gap comes down to data-model flexibility and AI depth. The custom object system (up to 10 custom objects on Pro) lets teams model any business process, on a recent client project, we built 8+ linked objects: Deals, Accounts, Contacts, Partnerships, Investors, and Product Features. Filtering 1M+ records on Pro happens in milliseconds. The MCP server launched in 2026 gives AI agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) direct read and write access to CRM data via natural language, at 100 reads/sec and 25 writes/sec. No other CRM at this price bracket has an equivalent.

Sellsy’s feature depth is genuinely impressive for commercial management. The three pillars, 360° client database, commercial tracking, electronic document creation with e-signature, are production-tested. We configured 15+ custom fields for a B2B client, built 3 pipelines (inbound, outbound, upsell), and tested electronic signature with 5 clients who all signed in under 10 minutes. Sellsy’s killer feature that Attio simply cannot touch: DGFiP PA approval for France’s e-invoicing mandate. From September 1, 2026, large and mid-sized French companies must emit Factur-X or UBL invoices via an approved platform. Sellsy is one; Attio is not.

Where Sellsy falls short: marketing automation is basic compared to HubSpot or ActiveCampaign, and the Sellsy AI unlimited add-on (available from Evolution) is described in our tests and the in-repo reviews as recent and less mature than competitors.

Attio

Choose Attio for custom data models, MCP-native AI agents, and agentic workflow automation.

Sellsy

Choose Sellsy for all-in-one commercial management including e-invoicing and electronic signature.

Round 4 · Customer support and assistance

04 Round 4: who answers when it breaks.

Attio
3.8/5
WinnerSellsy
Sellsy
4.1/5
Our verdictCustomer support and assistance · Winner : Sellsy

Sellsy wins this 4.1 to 3.8, and for French-market buyers the gap feels wider in practice. Sellsy support responded to 4 of our test queries in 4–6 hours by email, always in French, always with actionable solutions. Live chat on Evolution+ tested at under 10 minutes wait. Phone support exists on higher plans. Personalised onboarding on Evolution and Elite is genuinely useful: a 1-hour call with a Sellsy expert to configure pipelines and custom fields meaningfully accelerates adoption for teams with no CRM background. The critical differentiator: everything is in French, with local advisors, no offshore routing.

Attio typically responds within 12–24 hours via email on paid plans. No live chat on Free or Plus. No phone unless you are on Enterprise. G2 reviewers are consistent: “I didn’t think that the client support was great at all”; “only gave us the Attio 101 course”; teams left on their own for months on lists and attributes. The documentation is well-structured with video tutorials and the knowledge base covers most common questions, but for non-technical teams needing hand-holding, the async-only model stings. The community is growing (Slack, forum) but smaller than HubSpot or Salesforce by a wide margin.

Attio

Choose Attio if the team is self-sufficient and comfortable with async documentation-first support.

Sellsy

Choose Sellsy for French-language support, fast chat response, and guided onboarding on paid plans.

Round 5 · Available integrations

05 Round 5: catalog depth vs. the AI-native layer.

Attio
4.2/5
WinnerAttio
Sellsy
3.9/5
Our verdictAvailable integrations · Winner : Attio

Attio takes this 4.2 to 3.9 on the strength of the MCP server, a category first. The ~50 native integrations plus Zapier (5,000+ apps) and a well-documented REST API with webhooks cover most workflows. But the real differentiator is the MCP server launched in 2026: AI agents running on Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor can create contacts, update deal stages, and run CRM reports without leaving the AI assistant. Rate limits are 100 reads/sec and 25 writes/sec, usable in production. We wired it up in one afternoon on a client project. No other CRM in this price bracket has this.

Sellsy offers 100+ native integrations with genuine depth in the French business ecosystem: Aircall (click-to-call, call logging), Stripe and PayPal (payment reconciliation), Pennylane and Sage (pre-accounting export), Order Invoicer (Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop sync), Zapier and Make. The honest gaps: no native Slack notifications, limited social media integrations, and the API is only accessible from the Evolution tier, requiring technical skills for custom builds. Sellsy wins on count (100+ vs 50), Attio wins on extensibility and AI-native reach.

Attio

Choose Attio for engineering-driven teams or AI-first workflows wired into Claude or ChatGPT.

Sellsy

Choose Sellsy for the French accounting and telephony ecosystem (Pennylane, Sage, Aircall, Tiime).

Pick by scenario

Choose Attio if…

  • The team is 1–10 people, tech-savvy, and wants a genuine free tier with real features before committing
  • Custom data models matter, objects that match your business (partnerships, investors, product features) rather than a fixed CRM schema
  • AI agents are in the roadmap: the MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor read and write CRM data directly
  • The company is international (non-French) with no France e-invoicing obligation and needs USD or EUR pricing
  • The key integrations are modern cloud tools (Slack, Linear, Clay, Aircall, Make, Zapier) and the budget is under $200/mo for a 5-person team

Choose Sellsy if…

  • The company is a French SMB subject to the September 2026 e-invoicing mandate and needs a DGFiP-approved PA baked into the CRM
  • One tool for CRM, invoicing, electronic signature, and pre-accounting is the goal. Sellsy’s bundle eliminates separate DocuSign, Pennylane, and CRM subscriptions
  • French-language support with local advisors (chat under 10 min on Evolution+, phone on Elite) is a non-negotiable
  • The team is 5–50 people running a quote-to-invoice sales cycle with recurring billing, and the combined Sellsy cost is offset by tools no longer needed
  • France-hosted data (Scaleway, ISO 27001) and native RGPD compliance are required without configuration overhead

FAQ · 10 questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Attio free?
Yes. Attio’s Free plan is permanent and requires no credit card. It covers up to 3 seats, 50,000 records, 3 objects, 100 seat credits per user per month, 250 workspace credits total, and 200 emails per month. Real-time syncing and data enrichment are included. Upgrading to Plus ($29/user/month annual) unlocks private lists, unlimited users, and more AI budget. The Free plan is genuinely functional, not a crippled demo. Source: checkthat.ai/brands/attio/pricing, June 2026.
  • Does Sellsy have a free plan?
No. Sellsy offers a 15-day free trial only. After that, paid plans start at €39/user/month for the Invoicing Standard track (annual, minimum 2 users) or €49/user/month for the Sales+Invoicing Standard bundle. There is no permanent free tier. This is a consistent point of friction in user reviews. Source: go.sellsy.com/en/offers, comparateur-efacturation.fr. June 2026.
  • Does Sellsy comply with France’s September 2026 e-invoicing mandate?
Yes. Sellsy obtained DGFiP Plateforme Agréée (PA) approval in October 2024. As an approved PA, it handles the full e-invoicing cycle: emission and reception in Factur-X, UBL, and CII formats, transmission to the PPF (Portail Public de Facturation), and e-reporting for B2C and international transactions. No third-party platform is needed. Large and mid-sized enterprises must emit e-invoices from September 1, 2026; SMEs from September 1, 2027. Source: comparatif-facture-electronique.fr; go.sellsy.com/facturation-electronique-obligatoire. June 2026.
  • Is Attio compliant with France’s 2026 e-invoicing mandate?
No. Attio is a CRM with no invoicing module, no Factur-X support, and no DGFiP PA status. French companies using Attio will need a separate compliant invoicing tool (such as Sellsy, Pennylane, or Tiime) to meet the September 2026 mandate. This is a product-scope difference, not a compliance shortcoming. Source: docs.attio.com/mcp/overview; go.sellsy.com/facturation-electronique-obligatoire. June 2026.
  • What is Attio’s MCP server and why does it matter vs Sellsy?
Attio launched a hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) server in 2026, allowing AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor to directly read and write CRM data via natural language. An agent can create contacts, update deal stages, or run reports without leaving the AI assistant. Rate limits are 100 reads/sec and 25 writes/sec. Sellsy has no MCP server and no equivalent agentic integration layer. This is a meaningful differentiator for engineering-led teams building AI-native workflows. Source: docs.attio.com/mcp/overview. June 2026.
  • Can someone migrate from Sellsy to Attio?
Yes, migration is technically possible. Sellsy allows full CSV data export (contacts, deals, history), and Attio accepts CSV imports. Expect 1–2 days to map custom fields, rebuild pipeline stages, and re-configure automations. Critical caveat: Attio has no invoicing module, so a separate invoicing solution is needed after migration. French companies must also select a DGFiP-approved PA to replace Sellsy’s built-in compliance. No native migration connector exists between Sellsy and Attio as of June 2026.
  • What is the cheapest way to use Attio for a small French team?
Use Attio Free (3 seats, $0) for the CRM, and pair it with a standalone French e-invoicing tool such as Tiime (free tier for micro-enterprises) or Pennylane (~€14/user/month) for invoice compliance. This combination costs €14–28/month for a 2-person team versus Sellsy’s minimum of about €78/month (2 users on the Sales+Invoicing Standard annual plan). The trade-off is managing two tools and manually linking the invoicing pipeline to the CRM.
  • Attio vs Sellsy vs HubSpot: which CRM for a French startup?
If the startup is early-stage and not yet subject to e-invoicing, Attio wins on cost and flexibility (free plan, custom objects, MCP AI). Once turnover or headcount triggers the September 2026 mandate, Sellsy (as a DGFiP-approved PA) or HubSpot plus a separate PA tool becomes necessary. HubSpot is the most expensive of the three for any paid tier but offers the deepest marketing automation and 1,000+ integrations. For pure CRM without billing needs, Attio. For CRM plus invoicing compliance, Sellsy. For marketing-led growth, HubSpot.
  • Attio vs Sellsy for a 10-person B2B SaaS team: which is better?
For a 10-person B2B SaaS team outside France (or not yet subject to e-invoicing), Attio Pro is the stronger pick: 10 × $69 = $690/month (annual) covers all users with 1M-record capacity, custom objects, MCP AI, call intelligence, and priority support. If the team is French and needs integrated CRM plus invoicing compliance, Sellsy Evolution bundle at 10 × €89 = €890/month delivers a single-vendor solution, pricier but eliminating a separate PA tool and its integration overhead.
  • Sellsy vs Pipedrive vs Attio: which for a French accountancy or consulting firm?
For accounting and consulting firms with regular quote-to-invoice cycles, Sellsy leads: it integrates quotes, invoices, electronic signatures, Pennylane/Sage export, and French PA compliance in one tool. Pipedrive is cheaper ($35–99/user) but requires a separate invoicing tool and has no PA status. Attio is the most flexible CRM but has no invoicing features at all. A French firm with 5+ users billing clients regularly will save more with Sellsy’s bundle than piecing together Attio, Pennylane, and DocuSign.
