The Softr agency.A real portal, not a sheet.

Softr turns your Airtable or Google Sheets into client portals, internal tools and member apps your users actually log into, not another spreadsheet nobody trusts. We model the data first, build the blocks, wire auth, user groups and granular permissions, and hand you an app your team can edit.

What we do

A Softr agency builds the app right, not just drops blocks.

Anyone can drag blocks onto a page. Structuring the data source, scoping permissions so each client sees only their own records, and handing you an app you can edit is a different job. Here are the four things we own.

Method · 4 stages

We build Softr apps on a real data model, not vibes.

Most Softr apps that break do so for the same reason: someone dropped blocks onto a messy Airtable base, never set up user groups, and the portal leaks data or grinds as it grows. So we treat it like software: model the data source, scope the permissions, build the blocks on top, and hand you an app you can actually maintain.

  • Audit · map your data source, your users, and what the portal or app must actually do
  • Model · structure Airtable / Sheets and the user groups before a single block goes down
  • Build · blocks, auth, permissions and gated content, wired to live data and tested
  • Hand over · you can edit copy, blocks and lists yourself, with the model documented

We ship no-code apps on Softr and Airtable.

We don't lead with a partner tier. We build real client portals and internal tools on Softr backed by Airtable, so we set them up the way they actually hold together: data modelled first, user groups and permissions scoped, gated content done right, and the app left in your hands. That's exactly what's missing when a build ends at dragging blocks onto a page.

  • We model the data source first. Most Softr apps that break do so because the Airtable base was never structured for an app, and we fix that before building.
  • Permissions and user groups done right: each client or role sees only its own records, the part most no-code portals get wrong.
  • You leave able to edit it: copy, blocks and lists are yours to change, and the data model is documented so you're not locked to us.
  • Honest about fit: if your app needs complex custom logic, heavy compute or a native mobile app, we'll tell you Softr is the wrong tool, not sell you one anyway.

What we set up

Softr on the front, your data source behind it.

We configure the parts that turn a database into a working app, then connect them to how your business already runs. Here's what a real Softr build covers.

Free audit · 60 minutes

We scope your portal, you leave with a plan.

Before quoting anything, we take 60 minutes to look at your data source, your users and what the app needs to do. You leave with an honest read on whether Softr is the right fit, what to model first, and how the permissions should work. Zero pitch, just a builder's take on your project.

Our approach

How we run a Softr build.

Five steps, in order. We don't drop blocks before the data model is set, we don't launch before every role is tested against real data, and your team owns it at the end. Each step has a deliverable and you sign off before we move on.

  1. Step 1 · Scoping audit

Map what the portal or app must actually do

We sit down with you and define the real job: who logs in, what records they see, what they can edit, and where the data lives today. We check your Airtable or Sheets, your users and your workflow. Half the value is telling you whether Softr is the right fit, because a portal built on a messy base or against a problem that needs real custom logic fails no matter how good the build is.

  2. Step 2 · Data model

Structure the data source before any block

We structure your Airtable, Google Sheets or Supabase data source for an app, not a spreadsheet: the right tables, fields, relations and views, and the user-group logic that decides who sees what. Get this right and the app is fast, scoped and maintainable. Get it wrong and no amount of blocks saves it. You sign off on the model before we lay down a single page.

  3. Step 3 · Build the app

Blocks, auth, permissions and gated content

We build the app from Softr blocks: dynamic lists and detail pages, forms that write back to your data, charts, and the sign-up and login flow. We wire user authentication, user groups and granular permissions so each client or role sees only their own records, and gate the content that needs a membership. Everything is tested against real data and real roles before launch.

  4. Step 4 · Integrate & polish

Custom domain, branding and your wider stack

We connect your custom domain, apply your branding, set up the SEO and metadata basics, and wire the app into your wider stack: automations off Airtable, payment or CRM connections, and any external tools the workflow needs. The portal stops being a standalone Softr app and becomes part of how your business actually runs, with the data flowing where it should.

  5. Step 5 · Hand over

Train your team, then get out of the way

We walk your team through the app: how to edit copy and blocks, add a record type, adjust a list, and where Softr AI and the visual editor speed up small changes. We document the data model and the permissions so nothing is a black box. If you want us on call for the next phase we talk about that separately, but you leave able to run it without us.

Proof · what the teams say

We're judged on the app that ships.

No partner badge to display, so we lead with what matters: feedback from the teams whose Softr portals and internal tools we built, and whether the app held up and stayed theirs to edit after we left. Our Trustpilot reviews come from those teams, not from a marketing deck.

  • The app and the data source stay yours, editable without us
  • User groups and permissions scoped before launch
  • Every role tested against real data, no leaks
  • Trustpilot reviews come from the teams we built for

FAQ · Softr agency 2026

The questions we get asked on repeat.

  • What does a Softr agency actually do?
A Softr agency builds client portals, internal tools, member directories and lightweight web apps on Softr, backed by your Airtable or Google Sheets data. We structure the data source for an app, assemble the blocks (dynamic lists, detail pages, forms, charts), wire user authentication, user groups and granular permissions so each client sees only their own records, and gate any content that needs a membership. The point is a working app your clients log into, not a prettier spreadsheet, and one your team can edit after we leave.
  • How much does a Softr build cost?
It depends on scope: a single-role client portal off a clean Airtable base is nothing like a multi-group member app with gated content, payments and automations. We don't throw out a flat package. We start with a free 60-minute audit to scope what the app must do and whether Softr is even the right fit, then quote a fixed scope. The Softr subscription itself you pay Softr directly; we pick the plan that matches your user count and features so you don't overpay.
  • Can Softr build a real client portal on our Airtable data?
Yes, that's its core use case. Softr connects to your Airtable (or Google Sheets, Supabase, Google) and turns it into a branded portal with user authentication, dynamic lists and detail pages, forms that write back, and granular permissions so each client sees only their own records. We model the base for the portal first, then build the blocks and the access rules. The data stays in Airtable, two-way; Softr is the interface your clients log into.
  • How do permissions and user groups work in Softr?
Softr uses user authentication plus user groups to control access. We set up the groups (client, admin, team, plan tier) and granular permissions so each user sees only the records and pages they should, and can only take the actions you allow. This is the part most no-code portals get wrong and the part that matters most: a client portal where one client can see another's data is broken. We test every role against real data before launch.
  • What can we connect Softr to besides Airtable?
Softr started on Airtable but now reads several data sources: Airtable, Google Sheets, Supabase and Google. We pick the one that fits your data and team, structure it for an app, and wire the blocks to it. Beyond the data source, we connect the app to your wider stack: automations triggered off Airtable, payment or CRM integrations, and external tools through the workflow, so the portal isn't an island but part of how your business runs.
  • When is Softr NOT the right fit?
When the app needs complex custom logic, heavy compute, or a native mobile app. Softr is excellent for client portals, internal tools, directories and content apps on top of structured data. It's the wrong tool for a product with deep branching logic, real-time heavy processing, or a mobile-first experience that needs the app stores. In those cases a full app builder or actual code wins, and we'll tell you so in the audit rather than force a Softr build that fights the tool.
  • Can we edit the Softr app ourselves after you build it?
Yes, and we build it so you can. Softr's visual editor lets your team change copy, swap an image, add a block or adjust a list without touching code, and Softr AI helps with small edits. We document the data model and the permissions, walk your team through the app, and hand it over so you're not locked into us for every change. You own the app and the data source; we're here for the next phase only if you want us.
  • How long does a Softr build take?
For a scoped client portal or internal tool on a clean data source, count a few weeks: audit and data model first, then blocks, auth and permissions, then integration and hand-over. A multi-group member app with gated content, payments and automations runs longer. We work in batches so you see a usable version early and sign off as we go, rather than waiting on a big-bang launch before anyone logs in.
