How much does Switcher Studio cost?

The real price of the iPhone and iPad multicam studio, plan by plan, fees included.

Short answer: Switcher Studio starts at $65/month on the Studio plan, or $45/month billed annually ($540/year, a 30% saving), with a 14-day free trial and no credit card required. But Studio caps you at two stream destinations and donation-only monetization. The moment you need ticketed events, subscriptions, pay-to-view or 20 destinations, you move to Suite at $99/month ($79/month annual). There is no permanent free plan. We walk through both plans, the transaction fees, and what you really pay for your setup.

Mind the total bill

Switcher Studio, what pushes the price up

The $65 Studio sticker rarely tells the whole story. A few things tend to nudge serious users toward Suite, into transaction fees, or into buying extra hardware. Here is what to watch.

The Studio to Suite jump

Studio caps you at 2 stream destinations, 250 assets, 10 videos, and donation-only monetization. The moment you need more than two simultaneous outputs, ticketed events, subscriptions, pay-to-view, live polls or video passwords, you move to Suite at $99/month ($79 annual). That is a +$34/month step up, and for most paid events it is effectively mandatory.

Monetization transaction fees

Switcher does not take a percentage commission. Instead, donations carry a flat $0.99 fee per transaction, with Stripe handling payouts (often same-day). Selling products through Shopify carries no Switcher fee. So your real monetization cost depends on transaction volume, not on a cut of revenue.

Pro camera hardware

The subscription covers the app and up to 9 camera sources, but pro gear is bought separately. A DSLR needs an Accsoon SeeMo HDMI adapter, and NDI cameras (PTZOptics, BirdDog, Mevo) are extra hardware, with NDI support still in beta. Plan for those purchases if you want a broadcast-grade rig.

No-refund and App Store policy

Switcher does not refund past periods or unused days in a billing cycle. If you subscribe through the App Store, Apple handles billing, refunds and cancellations, not Switcher. The production app also needs iOS/iPadOS 18+ or macOS 15+ on Apple Silicon, with no Android or Windows directing app, so older or non-Apple hardware is a hidden cost.

  • Need more than 2 destinations? You are on Suite, not Studio.
  • Selling tickets, subscriptions or pay-to-view? Suite only.
  • Just taking donations? Studio works, with a $0.99 fee per transaction.
  • Using a DSLR or NDI camera? Budget for the SeeMo adapter or NDI gear.
  • On Android, Windows or older Apple hardware? The directing app will not run.
Our method

How we size the real cost

Switcher Studio's sticker price hides two variables people confuse: which plan your features force you onto, and the transaction fees on top of the subscription. To size the real cost we start from the plan you actually need, use annual billing where it makes sense, and add monetization fees and any required hardware. Here is what we weigh.

What you actually pay per month

Nonprofit with donations

Fundraising broadcasts

~$45+/month + fees
  • Studio annual covers donation streams
  • Add $0.99 per donation transaction
  • 200 donations = about $198 in fees that month

Multi-destination agency

Many outputs, pro rig

~$99+/month + hardware
  • Suite monthly for 20 destinations
  • SeeMo adapter and NDI cameras on top
  • Hardware is a one-off, not a subscription

Estimates checked June 2026, based on the two official plans plus the $0.99 flat fee per donation transaction. Plan choice is driven by destinations and monetization, not team size: Switcher bills per platform, not per seat. Hardware (SeeMo, NDI cameras) is a separate one-off purchase. Is Switcher Studio expensive?

Switcher Studio's price versus the alternatives

Switcher Studio is the iPhone and iPad multicam pick, but it is not the cheapest way to stream. Here is how its entry price lines up against Ecamm Live, StreamYard and OBS, which use different models and platforms. Sort by price or by score.

Entry prices checked June 2026 on the official pages. Ecamm Live runs about $20/month ($16/month annual, Mac only) with a real audio mixer; StreamYard is about $25/month with a free plan and runs in the browser; OBS Studio is free, open source and cross-platform but has no phone-camera multicam workflow. Switcher Studio costs more because it turns iPhones and iPads into a synced multicam rig, which none of the others do natively.

The verdict

So, is Switcher Studio expensive?

Our take after testing it: Switcher Studio is not cheap, but the multicam-on-iPhone workflow is genuinely rare. Here is when it pays off, and how to pay less.

Good value if…

You want a real multicam stream without a hardware switcher or a Mac rig. Switcher turns several iPhones and iPads into a synced studio, which Ecamm and OBS do not do natively. At $45/month annual on Studio, that capability for simple streams is a fair deal, especially for churches, classes and solo creators.

Too expensive if…

You stream solo from one camera in a browser. StreamYard at $25/month (with a free plan) or OBS for free will cover that for far less. And if you need ticketed events or pay-to-view, remember the jump to Suite at $99/month plus the $0.99 fee per donation, which can add up at volume.

How to pay less

Use the 14-day trial first, then pay annually: Studio drops to $45/month (30% off). Stay on Studio if two destinations and donations are enough. Only move to Suite when ticketing or extra outputs are non-negotiable, and watch the no-refund and App Store billing rules so a mid-cycle change does not cost you.

  • Start with the 14-day trial, no credit card, full access.
  • Pay annually: Studio is 30% cheaper than monthly.
  • Stay on Studio if 2 destinations and donations cover you.
  • Move to Suite only when tickets or pay-to-view are required.
  • Subscribe direct, not via App Store, to keep refunds with Switcher rather than Apple.
Pricing FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Switcher Studio pricing

  • How much does Switcher Studio cost per month?
Switcher Studio costs $65/month on the Studio plan, or $45/month when billed annually, which works out to $540/year and saves you 30%. The Suite plan, which adds full monetization and 20 stream destinations, costs $99/month or $79/month billed annually ($948/year). There is no permanent free plan, but you get a 14-day free trial with full access and no credit card required. A seasonal Studio promo sometimes runs at $55/month for three months ($165 total). Which plan you need depends on your destinations and monetization, not on team size.
  • How much does Switcher Studio cost per year?
Billed annually, the Studio plan costs $540/year, which is $45/month and a 30% discount versus the monthly rate. The Suite plan costs $948/year on official pricing, which is $79/month. One third-party source lists Suite annual lower at $828/year ($69/month), so it is worth checking the current figure on the official page before you pay. Paying annually is the main way to cut the cost on Switcher Studio, since there is no permanent free plan to fall back on, only the 14-day trial.
  • Does Switcher Studio have a free plan?
No, Switcher Studio does not have a permanent free plan. What it offers instead is a 14-day free trial with full access to the app, and no credit card is required to start it. During the trial you can test the multicam workflow, live switching and streaming before paying anything. Once the trial ends you have to pick a paid plan, Studio at $65/month or Suite at $99/month, to keep using it. Pages that claim a free version or a $19/month tier are inaccurate against the official pricing.
  • What is the difference between the Studio and Suite plans?
Studio at $65/month covers the basics: multistream to 2 destinations, 250 cloud assets, 10 hosted videos, and donation-only monetization. Suite at $99/month opens it up to 20 destinations, 1,000 assets, 100 videos, and full monetization including tickets, subscriptions, pay-to-view and shoppable streams, plus live polls and video password protection. The practical rule: if you only take donations and stream to two places, Studio is enough. If you sell access to your content or stream to many platforms, you need Suite, which is $34/month more.
  • Are there fees on Switcher Studio monetization?
Yes, but not a percentage cut. Switcher charges a flat $0.99 fee per transaction on donations, and takes zero percentage commission of its own. Payments run through Stripe, often with same-day payouts. Selling physical products through Shopify carries no Switcher fee at all. So your real monetization cost depends on how many transactions you process, not on how much revenue you make. For high-volume donation streams, that flat fee per transaction is worth modeling into your budget before you commit.
  • Is Switcher Studio more expensive than Ecamm Live or StreamYard?
Yes, at the entry level. Switcher Studio starts at $65/month, while Ecamm Live runs about $20/month ($16/month annual, Mac only) and StreamYard about $25/month with a free plan. OBS Studio is free and cross-platform. Switcher costs more because it does something the others do not: it turns several iPhones and iPads into a synced multicam studio with live switching. If you only need a single-camera browser stream, StreamYard or OBS will cost far less. If you need true multicam on Apple devices, Switcher is in a category of its own.
  • What devices and operating systems does Switcher Studio need?
The directing app runs on iOS and iPadOS 18 or later, and on macOS 15 or later with Apple Silicon. There is no directing app for Android or Windows, so those devices can only join as remote cameras or screen shares. You can connect up to 9 camera sources at once. DSLR cameras need an Accsoon SeeMo HDMI adapter bought separately, and NDI cameras such as PTZOptics, BirdDog or Mevo are supported in beta. If your hardware is older or non-Apple, factor in the cost of upgrading before subscribing.
  • Is there a discount for paying Switcher Studio annually?
Yes. Paying for the Studio plan annually drops it from $65/month to $45/month, a 30% saving, which totals $540/year. The Suite plan billed annually comes to $79/month ($948/year) on official pricing. Annual billing is the single biggest lever to pay less on Switcher Studio, since there is no permanent free tier. A seasonal Studio promo also appears at times, at $55/month for three months ($165 total), which can be cheaper for a short, one-off project than a full annual commitment.
  • Can I cancel Switcher Studio and get a refund?
You can cancel, but Switcher does not refund past periods or unused days within a billing cycle, so plan your cancellation around your renewal date. The other catch is where you subscribed: if you signed up through the Apple App Store, Apple manages billing, refunds and cancellations, not Switcher, so you handle it through your Apple account. Subscribing directly through Switcher keeps those controls with Switcher. Either way, there are no refunds for time already paid, so cancel before the next cycle starts if you are done.
  • How much does a full Switcher Studio multicam setup cost?
Budget in two buckets: the subscription and the hardware. On the software side, expect $45/month annual on Studio for simple streams, or $79/month annual on Suite if you need ticketing, pay-to-view or 20 destinations. On the hardware side, the app turns iPhones and iPads you already own into up to 9 camera sources, so a basic rig can cost nothing extra. Adding a DSLR means an Accsoon SeeMo adapter, and NDI cameras like PTZOptics or BirdDog are pricier pro gear bought separately. So a full setup ranges from just the subscription to several hundred dollars in one-off hardware.
