Tidio vs Pylon 2026

Short answer: Tidio if you run a Shopify or WooCommerce store and your customers reach you on Instagram or WhatsApp; Pylon if your B2B SaaS customers already live in Slack Connect and you need AI routing, account intelligence and engineering integrations. These two tools do not actually compete for the same buyer.

The catch nobody documented: Tidio restructured pricing in December 2024 and automatically doubled bills for existing customers without email warning. Pylon's base plan looks reasonable at $59/seat until you add AI Assistants ($50/seat/mo extra) and hit the 3-seat minimum floor of $177/mo just to get started. Both tools have structural billing gotchas the SERP ignores. This page runs the real arithmetic.

Five rounds

Criterion by criterion, head to head

The same five criteria scored on each tool's individual review page. Scores mirror those reviews exactly.

Round 1 · Ease of use

01 Round 1: getting live fast.

Tidio
4.0/5
WinnerPylon
Pylon
4.2/5
Our verdictEase of use · Winner : Pylon

Pylon edges this 4.2 to 4.0, and the margin is smaller than it looks. Tidio's widget is genuinely the fastest install in its class: paste a JavaScript snippet, connect a Shopify app, and an operator can take the first live chat in under 20 minutes with zero technical background. The operator inbox is clean, open and unassigned tickets are immediately visible, and mobile notifications fire reliably. Where Tidio loses points is the depth behind the widget: the Flows chatbot builder requires real trial-and-error to get past basic templates, Lyro configuration is limited to simple public pages, and multi-channel setup (Instagram, WhatsApp) involves settings some users find hard to locate after initial onboarding.

Pylon's headline is different: most teams report going live in days to under two weeks, which is still far faster than Zendesk or Freshdesk migrations. For a B2B SaaS team already running support in Slack, the conversation-based model is intuitive and the connectors authenticate cleanly. The honest friction: there is no mobile app (all triage and response requires desktop or browser), and teams migrating from email-folder ticketing find the conversation-first model jarring. High-volume inboxes need custom views built before the interface becomes manageable. Documentation is structured but rated adequate rather than exceptional.

Pylon wins this round on the final steady-state UX for its target buyer. Tidio wins on day-one speed for SMB operators.

Tidio

Choose Tidio if you need a widget live this afternoon with no technical setup.

Pylon

Choose Pylon if your team is Slack-native and you can absorb a few days of onboarding.

Round 2 · Value for money

02 Round 2: what the real bill looks like.

Tidio
2.8/5
WinnerPylon
Pylon
3.0/5
Our verdictValue for money · Winner : Pylon

Both tools have structural value-for-money problems; Pylon scores 3.0 to Tidio's 2.8 because at least its billing is predictable. Tidio's headline Starter at $24.17/mo is not the all-in bill for any store that actually uses the product. Add Lyro AI ($32.50/mo for 50 conversations) and Flows automation ($24.17/mo for 2,000 triggered visitors) and the realistic minimum reaches $80.84/mo on three separate billing meters. Automated greetings count toward the conversation cap even if the visitor never replies, so active stores exhaust Starter in days. Worse: when the monthly quota hits 95%, Tidio silently upgrades to the next tier with no email warning and no easy downgrade path. The December 2024 pricing restructure doubled bills for existing customers overnight on some plans, documented on Trustpilot and Capterra as an effective billing incident with no prior notice.

Pylon's problems are different but real. No free plan, annual commitment on every tier, 3-seat minimum forces $177/mo floor, AI Assistants add $50/seat/mo on top, and adding AI Assistants to Professional ($89/seat) pushes per-seat cost to $139, the same as Enterprise, without getting Enterprise features like RBAC, data warehouse or HIPAA BAA. Account Intelligence is $10/account/mo with a 50-account minimum, so $500/mo to turn it on. The pricing is transparent and published; it is just steep.

Pylon wins this round narrowly: its pricing, while higher, is at least predictable without silent auto-upgrades.

Tidio

Choose Tidio only if volume fits Starter's 100-conversation cap and no AI is needed.

Pylon

Choose Pylon if your funded team values billing predictability and can absorb the annual commitment.

Round 3 · Features and depth

03 Round 3: what each platform actually does.

Tidio
3.8/5
WinnerPylon
Pylon
4.4/5
Our verdictFeatures and depth · Winner : Pylon

Pylon wins this 4.4 to 3.8 and it is not especially close. Tidio's feature set is genuinely broad for its target buyer: live chat, helpdesk ticketing, Flows no-code chatbot, Lyro AI, and a unified inbox covering WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, email and live chat in one view is a real operational upgrade for a small e-commerce team. Lyro claims a roughly 67% resolution rate on FAQ-type queries. But the ceilings arrive fast: Lyro only ingests simple public pages and FAQ docs, Flows analytics are thin, Departments require Plus at $749/mo, and OpenAPI access is also locked to Plus. Social channels (Instagram, Messenger) are a genuine strength no competitor page mentions.

Pylon operates at a different level by design. The shared inbox pulls Slack Connect, Microsoft Teams, email, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, in-app chat and phone into a single interface with full account conversation history. AI routing reads each issue and assigns it to the right team automatically. AI Agents resolve issues autonomously using runbooks with escalation workflows. Account Intelligence tracks churn signals, renewal risk and feature request volume across every account interaction. Bi-directional Jira, Linear, Asana, GitHub Issues and Shortcut sync eliminates the support-to-engineering copy-paste loop. A native MCP connection means your support workflow can be called from AI agents. The honest weak spots: the native knowledge base is the most-cited gap in every third-party review, and custom reporting is locked to Enterprise.

Tidio

Choose Tidio for e-commerce social inbox, light FAQ automation and multi-channel under one roof.

Pylon

Choose Pylon for B2B SaaS support with engineering integration, AI routing and account intelligence.

Round 4 · Customer support and assistance

04 Round 4: who helps when it breaks.

Tidio
3.2/5
WinnerPylon
Pylon
3.8/5
Our verdictCustomer support and assistance · Winner : Pylon

Pylon takes this 3.8 to 3.2, and the gap is real. Tidio's support is tier-gated in a way that hurts its core audience: Free and Starter users get email only (the slowest channel, for the least experienced users), Growth adds limited chat, and Plus unlocks a dedicated Success Manager at $749/mo. Documentation is adequate for standard setup but thin for edge cases. The signal that hurts most comes from a documented pattern across review platforms: multiple follow-ups to Tidio's partner support team with no reply, an accountability gap that goes beyond one bad experience. The December 2024 pricing incident and reports of automatic upgrades without consent compound the picture.

Pylon's support structure is cleaner: Starter and Professional get chat and email, Enterprise gets a dedicated Slack support channel, which is exactly the medium B2B SaaS teams already use. Documentation at docs.usepylon.com covers every module with a prominent quickstart, and the fast implementation track record (days to live vs Zendesk's weeks) suggests a team that takes onboarding seriously. The soft spots: the Slack channel is Enterprise-only, and the native knowledge base weakness pushes more edge-case questions toward support than a stronger KB would. Neither tool is flawless here, but Pylon's responsiveness record is cleaner.

Tidio

Choose Tidio if on Growth plan or above; expect slow resolution on Free or Starter.

Pylon

Choose Pylon for fast onboarding support; budget for Enterprise if you need the Slack channel.

Round 5 · Available integrations

05 Round 5: breadth vs B2B depth.

Tidio
4.0/5
WinnerPylon
Pylon
4.5/5
Our verdictAvailable integrations · Winner : Pylon

Pylon wins 4.5 to 4.0, though Tidio holds its own on social channel coverage. Tidio's 120+ native integrations cover the e-commerce stack that matters: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger natively. The Zapier connector is available on all paid plans. The wall is OpenAPI access, locked to Plus at $749/mo, which shuts out any custom data integration for the SMB audience Tidio targets.

Pylon's integration surface is purpose-built for B2B SaaS depth. CRMs: Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive and Attio. Issue trackers with bi-directional sync: Jira, Linear, Asana, GitHub Issues and Shortcut. Incident management: PagerDuty, Opsgenie, Rootly and Incident.io. Call intelligence: Gong, Fireflies.ai, Fathom and Grain. Data warehouse: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift and S3 (Enterprise). API plus webhooks. Native MCP connection plus a Cursor integration for codebase context. Pylon also holds a Slack Marketplace listing. The honest caveats: no Instagram, no Facebook Messenger, no e-commerce connectors, and data-warehouse export is Enterprise-gated.

Pylon wins on B2B depth and forward-looking AI protocol coverage. Tidio wins on social channel coverage and e-commerce ecosystem breadth.

Tidio

Choose Tidio for Shopify, WooCommerce and social channel unification.

Pylon

Choose Pylon for CRM, engineering stack, incident tooling and AI agent protocol coverage.

FAQ · 10 questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Tidio free?
Tidio has a permanent free plan capped at 50 billable conversations per month, 10 seats and 50 lifetime Lyro AI conversations. The catch: automated greetings count toward the 50-conversation limit even if the visitor never replies, so an active store can exhaust the free tier in days. Pylon has no free plan and no published trial length; its minimum entry cost is $177/mo (3 seats at $59 annual).
  • Is Pylon free?
No. Every Pylon tier is paid and billed annually: Starter $59/seat/mo, Professional $89/seat/mo, Enterprise $139/seat/mo, with a 3 to 7 seat minimum depending on tier. A free trial is advertised but the exact length is not published. AI is never included in a base plan. If a free starting point is a hard requirement, Pylon will not fit.
  • How much does Tidio really cost with Lyro and Flows?
More than the headline plan price suggests. A store that needs live chat, Lyro AI automation and Flows chatbot is looking at Starter ($24.17/mo) plus Lyro ($32.50/mo for 50 AI conversations) plus Flows ($24.17/mo for 2,000 triggered visitors), roughly $80.84/mo minimum on three separate billing meters. That is before Tidio's 95%-quota silent auto-upgrade triggers a jump to Growth (adds roughly $25/mo) or beyond. The December 2024 pricing restructure doubled bills for some existing customers without warning. (Source: tidio.com/pricing and chatarmin.com/en/blog/tidio-pricing, checked June 2026.)
  • How much does Pylon cost per month with AI?
A 5-seat Professional team is $445/mo on the plan alone (5 x $89, annual). Add AI Assistants at $50/seat/mo: another $250/mo, so $695/mo before any AI Agent usage. AI Agents start at $100/mo and scale with issue volume (up to $500/mo at 1,000 issues). Turn on Account Intelligence and it is $10/account/mo with a 50-account minimum, so $500/mo more. The $59/seat headline is the first step of a long staircase. (Source: usepylon.com/pricing, checked June 2026.)
  • Can you migrate from Tidio to Pylon?
Practically, there is no migration path between these two tools because they serve completely different buyers. Tidio is SMB e-commerce and B2C; Pylon is B2B SaaS only. Pylon has no Instagram, Messenger or e-commerce platform integrations. If a Shopify business has grown into B2B SaaS accounts, the realistic migration is Tidio to Intercom or Tidio to Zendesk, not Tidio to Pylon.
  • What is the cheapest live chat for a small e-commerce store?
Tidio Free (50 conversations/mo) and Crisp Free (2 seats, unlimited chat history) are the zero-cost options. For a store with real traffic, Tidio Starter at $24.17/mo is the practical entry, but budget Lyro ($32.50/mo) and Flows ($24.17/mo) if you need AI and automation: realistic minimum is $80/mo. Pylon is not a live-chat option for e-commerce.
  • Does Pylon have a mobile app?
No. Pylon has no mobile app, confirmed across multiple independent reviews. All triage and response happens on desktop or in a browser. For on-call rotations or distributed teams who need to respond from a phone, this is a real gap. Tidio has mobile notification support for live alerts, though editing automation or chatbot flows requires the desktop interface.
  • Is Pylon good for B2C or high-volume consumer support?
No. Pylon is explicitly B2B-only by design. It has no Instagram, Facebook Messenger or e-commerce platform integrations, and the platform architecture assumes multi-stakeholder B2B accounts with Slack Connect and Teams, not high-volume B2C contacts. If you run a consumer brand or a Shopify store, Pylon is simply not built for that workflow.
  • Tidio vs Pylon vs Intercom: which should you choose?
Three different ICPs. Tidio: SMB e-commerce, live chat, social inbox, light AI for Shopify and WooCommerce, from $24/mo. Pylon: B2B SaaS, Slack-native support, engineering integrations, account intelligence, from $177/mo. Intercom (Fin AI): B2B and B2C, strong in-app chat and AI agent, around $29/seat with AI at roughly $0.99 per resolution, sits between the two in price and audience. Choose by where your customers actually reach you.
  • Tidio vs Pylon for a startup: which is better?
Depends entirely on the startup type. E-commerce or B2C startup: Tidio is the right tool, free tier exists, setup is instant, social channels are native. B2B SaaS startup with Slack-native customers and budget: Pylon, but only with 3+ seats, an annual commitment, and without the AI add-on until you actually need it. Pre-revenue or bootstrapped B2B: neither. Pylon's $177/mo floor and annual lock-in are prohibitive; consider Help Scout ($15 to $25/user) or Freshdesk Free instead.
