Softr vs Ksaar 2026

Short answer: pick Softr if you want to ship client portals and internal tools fast on top of Airtable, Notion, Google Sheets or SQL, with real-time two-way sync and AI scaffolding; pick Ksaar if you have a French data-residency or HDS health-data mandate, or need native document generation and e-signature in one self-contained tool. Softr scores 4.2/5 overall in our tests and wins all five criteria, Ksaar 3.9/5.

The angle nobody updated: on March 3, 2026 Softr moved its Vibe Coding block from free beta to a paid feature that burns AI credits, and re-denominated them (100 old credits became 1 new credit) with little notice. One Business user reported spending 60 of 100 monthly credits in a single day. Meanwhile Ksaar is the only one of the two that hosts exclusively in France on Scaleway, is HDS 1-6 certified, and pledges to open-source its software if it ever shuts down. Those two facts decide most of this match.

Five rounds

Criterion by criterion, head to head

The same five criteria we scored on each tool's review page. Softr takes all five, but every round has a clear per-tool pick.

Round 1 · Ease of use

01 Round 1: getting the first app live.

Softr
4.7/5
WinnerSoftr
Ksaar
4.2/5
Our verdictEase of use · Winner : Softr

Softr wins this 4.7 to 4.2, and the gap is real in practice. In our hands-on we had a functional client portal with lead tracking built in around 20 minutes, and AI generation turned a prompt like “CRM for a consulting agency” into roughly 80% of a working app. Non-technical users were productive in under an hour. The whole experience is template-driven and forgiving: pick a layout, connect a data source, set permissions, publish.

Ksaar is also genuinely no-code, with a clean dark UI, and a beginner on our side built a working lead tracker in about 45 minutes. But the learning curve rises sharply once you reach conditional logic and multi-step automations: wiring an automated email trigger took roughly two extra hours, and there are no in-app tutorials to lean on. Softr edges it on speed-to-first-app and on AI-assisted scaffolding; Ksaar is easy to start but slower to master advanced logic. For any team that wants a portal live this afternoon, Softr is the cleaner answer.

Softr

Choose Softr for the fastest time-to-portal and AI-assisted builds with almost no ramp-up.

Ksaar

Choose Ksaar if you build standard business apps and can live with external docs over in-app tutorials.

Round 2 · Value for money

02 Round 2: where the real bill lands.

Softr
4.1/5
WinnerSoftr
Ksaar
3.8/5
Our verdictValue for money · Winner : Softr

Softr takes this 4.1 to 3.8, mainly on a genuinely usable free plan and a smoother ladder. Softr is flat, transparent and never per-seat: $0 Free with a real published app and 10 users, then $49, $139 and $269 tiers. The catches are the per-app record caps, user ceilings, and, since March 2026, metered AI credits that can force top-up purchases if generation is central to your build.

Ksaar is also non-per-seat and competitive at the top, with unlimited records on Business from €112/mo. But its free tier is trial-grade (1,000 records, no API, no payments) rather than a production plan, and the Starter-to-Business jump is steep at roughly €91/mo, which stings teams stuck in the middle. For a price-only decision with no compliance needs, Softr's free plan and gentler curve win. Ksaar's value case is really about what you get for the money, namely HDS hosting, sovereignty and built-in document generation, not the sticker price itself.

Softr

Choose Softr for budget-led buyers and anyone who wants a free tier that actually runs in production.

Ksaar

Choose Ksaar when HDS, sovereignty or native document generation justify the spend on their own.

Round 3 · Features and depth

03 Round 3: raw power and where each hits a ceiling.

Softr
4.5/5
WinnerSoftr
Ksaar
4.0/5
Our verdictFeatures and depth · Winner : Softr

Softr wins this 4.5 to 4.0 on breadth plus AI. It ships robust native auth and role-based permissions, conditional visibility, its own databases plus real-time two-way sync to Airtable, Notion, HubSpot, Sheets and SQL, native Workflows with an AI co-builder, and AI app and UI generation. It is best for CRUD business apps and portals; it is not built for complex SaaS or native mobile.

Ksaar answers with a strong relational DB with referential integrity, role-based permissions, a multi-page interface builder and visual workflows, plus native PDF/DOCX generation, Yousign e-signature and Stripe, and an industrial, field and offline-capture orientation. Its gaps are real: no AI features, a lighter formula engine and no native mobile app. So Softr wins on breadth and AI scaffolding, while Ksaar wins specific depth exactly where documents, signatures and on-site capture are the actual job. Pick by what the work demands, not by the headline score.

Softr

Choose Softr for portals, internal tools and CRMs that benefit from AI assistance and external-data sync.

Ksaar

Choose Ksaar for document-and-signature-heavy or field/offline business processes.

Round 4 · Customer support and assistance

04 Round 4: who answers when it breaks.

Softr
4.5/5
WinnerSoftr
Ksaar
3.7/5
Our verdictCustomer support and assistance · Winner : Softr

Softr wins this 4.5 to 3.7, with a materially deeper self-serve and human stack for a no-code audience. There is in-app chat with fast, technical replies, 100+ docs with screenshots, and an active community forum with over 1,000 threads where team members answer; we observed same-day email too. The caveat is consistency: response speed varies, and one G2 reviewer reported multi-day waits.

Ksaar offers bilingual FR/EN email and ticket support at roughly 18 to 24 hours, and the agents are genuinely technical, even sharing custom snippets in our exchanges. But there is no live chat, even on Enterprise, no public community forum, lighter documentation, and only a handful of mostly French video tutorials. For day-to-day responsiveness and a deep library of learning resources, Softr is clearly ahead. Ksaar is acceptable if you prefer async email and you have a technical lead internally who can self-serve through the gaps.

Softr

Choose Softr for day-to-day responsiveness, in-app chat and a deep library of docs and community threads.

Ksaar

Choose Ksaar if you prefer async email support and have a technical lead in-house.

Round 5 · Available integrations

05 Round 5: native data sources vs middleware reach.

Softr
4.0/5
WinnerSoftr
Ksaar
3.9/5
Our verdictAvailable integrations · Winner : Softr

Softr wins this narrowly, 4.0 to 3.9. It ships 15+ native real-time data sources, including Airtable, Notion, HubSpot, Sheets and SQL such as PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB, plus native Stripe and PayPal, and connects to Make, Zapier and n8n, with a REST API for everything else. The native catalogue is smaller than Bubble's 500+ plugins, but it is first-party and real-time where it counts.

Ksaar offers native Stripe, Yousign and French fintech such as Qonto, Pennylane and Sellsy, and markets 3,000+ connectors via Make and around 8,000 via Zapier. The honest nuance: those are middleware counts, not native connectors, and in our grounding Ksaar has no native Zapier app, so you connect via webhooks and REST API. Its native catalogue is materially smaller, roughly 30 to 40, with gaps on Salesforce, HubSpot and AWS. It is a close battle, but Softr's larger first-party data-source set and native Stripe and Zapier path give it the edge; Ksaar is strongest for French and EU stacks.

Softr

Choose Softr for Airtable, Notion or SQL-backed apps and global SaaS stacks with native real-time sync.

Ksaar

Choose Ksaar for French-tool ecosystems (Qonto, Pennylane) and document or signature flows.

The real cost, plan by plan

Softr repriced its AI credits on March 3, 2026, and Ksaar splits internal from external seats rather than charging per uniform seat. Both facts affect the real cost. We list the plans, then run two worked examples the data supports.

The shortlist

Pick by scenario

Choose Softr if...

  • You build client portals or internal tools on top of Airtable, Notion, Google Sheets or SQL and want real-time two-way sync working in minutes
  • You want the easiest learning curve and AI scaffolding (AI Co-Builder, Vibe Coding, Ask AI) to get 70 to 80% of an app from a prompt
  • You prefer flat, no-per-seat pricing with a genuinely usable free plan, a real published app with 10 users, before committing
  • You value deep self-serve support: 100+ docs, an active forum and responsive in-app chat
  • You are scaling a public-ish app to hundreds of users with no hard data-in-France or HDS requirement, just watch the per-app record caps and the post-March-2026 AI credits

Choose Ksaar if...

  • You have a hard sovereignty or compliance mandate: France-only Scaleway hosting, HDS 1-6 for health data, ISO 27001 and RGPD, which Softr cannot meet
  • Your process needs native document generation (PDF/DOCX) and Yousign e-signature baked in, not bolted on via APIs
  • You run industrial, field or on-site workflows where mobile or offline data capture matters
  • You are a French or EU org living in a Qonto, Pennylane or Sellsy stack and want native fintech integrations plus bilingual FR/EN support
  • Business continuity worries you: Ksaar pledges to open-source its software if it ceases operations, a safeguard Softr does not offer

FAQ · 10 questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Softr or Ksaar better for building internal tools in 2026?
For most teams, Softr. It scores higher across all five of our criteria (4.2 vs 3.9 overall), with the easiest learning curve, AI app generation, real-time sync to Airtable, Notion and SQL, and a usable free plan. Ksaar is the better pick only when you have a hard data-in-France or HDS requirement, need native document generation and e-signature, or run field and offline workflows. Softr is the front-end-on-your-data builder; Ksaar is an all-in-one French sovereign platform.
  • How much does Softr cost vs Ksaar for a real project?
Softr is flat USD with no per-seat fee: Free $0 (1 app, 10 users), Basic $49, Professional $139 (100 users), Business $269 (500 users), all annual, checked June 13, 2026. Ksaar is EUR per plan: Free €0 (trial-grade), Starter from €21, Business from €112 (unlimited records). A 100-user Softr Professional app is $139/mo flat; a comparable Ksaar Business plan is from €112/mo. Both avoid per-seat pricing; Softr's free tier is far more usable, while Ksaar's value lies in HDS hosting and built-in documents and e-signature.
  • Is Ksaar's free plan actually free, and how does it compare to Softr's?
Both are free forever with no card. But they are not equivalent: Softr Free gives a real published app with 10 users, 5,000 records, 500 workflow actions and 5 AI credits a month. Ksaar Free is trial-grade, with 1 internal and 10 external users, 1,000 records, and crucially no API and no payments. For genuine production testing, Softr's free plan is the more generous of the two; Ksaar effectively expects you to move to Starter at €21 for anything real.
  • What is the difference between Softr and Ksaar architecturally?
Softr is primarily a front-end and app layer: you bring data (Airtable, Notion, Google Sheets, SQL, or Softr's native DB) and Softr builds the portal, auth and workflows on top, with real-time two-way sync. Ksaar is an all-in-one platform with its own relational backend, and adds native document generation, e-signature and payments, built for complete business applications and industrial or field processes. If you already live in Airtable, Softr is the natural fit; if you want one self-contained sovereign system, Ksaar is.
  • Which is better for GDPR, HDS and EU data residency: Softr or Ksaar?
Ksaar, decisively, for regulated and sovereignty-sensitive use. It hosts exclusively in France on the Scaleway sovereign cloud, is HDS 1-6 certified for French health-data hosting, ISO 27001 and RGPD compliant, and pledges to open-source its software if it shuts down. Softr is GDPR-workable with a DPA but is tied to the US-centric Airtable ecosystem and offers no HDS. If you handle health data or face a data-in-France mandate, Ksaar is the only one of the two that qualifies, which is why a healthcare buyer should pick it even though Softr scores higher overall.
  • Did Softr change its AI pricing in 2026, and does it affect cost?
Yes. On March 3, 2026, Softr moved the Vibe Coding block from free beta to a paid feature that consumes AI credits, and re-denominated credits (100 old became 1 new) billed as a simplification. The community pushback was about poor notification and credit burn: a Business user reported spending 60 of 100 monthly credits in one day on basic vibe-coded charts, with an apparent minimum of about 0.15 credit per request. Plans include 5, 10, 50 and 100 AI credits (Free, Basic, Pro, Business); extra packs run roughly $10 to $500 for 100 to 5,000 credits. If AI generation is central, budget for top-ups. Source: Softr Community, checked June 13, 2026.
  • Can you migrate from Ksaar to Softr or vice versa?
There is no native one-click migration either way. Both expose REST APIs and CSV-style import and export, so a move means exporting records to CSV or JSON and rebuilding the interface, auth and workflows in the target tool: the data moves more easily than the app logic. Realistically budget one to two weeks for a mid-size app, more if you rely on Ksaar-specific features such as document generation and e-signature that Softr does not replicate natively, or on Softr's external-data-source sync that Ksaar's self-contained model handles differently.
  • Softr vs Ksaar vs Airtable, which should I pick in 2026?
Airtable is the database and spreadsheet hybrid; Softr and Ksaar are app builders that turn data into usable software with logins and permissions. Softr famously pairs with Airtable, and now Notion, Sheets and SQL, as the front-end: pick this combo for fast portals on flexible data. Ksaar replaces the whole stack with a French sovereign all-in-one, its own DB plus documents, e-signature and HDS. Choose Airtable plus Softr for flexibility and ecosystem; choose Ksaar for sovereignty, compliance and built-in business features in a single tool.
  • What is the cheapest way to get a production internal tool: Softr or Ksaar?
For a no-compliance internal tool, Softr is cheaper to start because its free plan is production-usable and Basic is $49/mo flat regardless of seats. Ksaar's free tier will not run production (no API or payments, 1,000 records), so the realistic entry is Starter at €21/mo, climbing to €112/mo Business for unlimited records. Softr wins on low-end total cost of ownership; Ksaar only becomes the value choice when its sovereignty, HDS or native document features are actual requirements rather than nice-to-haves.
  • Which is better for agencies and freelancers: Softr or Ksaar?
Softr, for most agency work: flat pricing with no per-seat fee, 20-minute portal builds, AI scaffolding, native Airtable and Notion sync, and strong docs and community make client delivery fast. It is also the only one of the two that is buyable through our affiliate link with a free sign-up. Ksaar suits agencies serving French, EU or regulated clients who need HDS hosting, document generation and e-signature out of the box, a narrower but real niche. For a generalist studio shipping many client portals, Softr is the default; for a compliance-focused French agency, Ksaar earns its place.
