Bright Data vs Browse AI 2026

Short answer: pick Bright Data if your targets are protected (LinkedIn, Amazon, Cloudflare) or you scrape at volume, pick Browse AI if you are non-technical and need competitor monitoring running this afternoon. Bright Data takes the overall (4.2/5 vs 3.8/5) and 4 of the 5 rounds, Browse AI wins ease of use.

The catch the stale top-10 misses: Bright Data's headline promo (25% off APIs, 50% off residential proxies) doubles after 3 months, so a $2.50/GB rate jumps past $5/GB at month 4. Browse AI looks cheap until silent robot failures and pagination burn credits 5 to 10 times faster than the plan page suggests. Both have a billing trap, and that decides most of this match.

Romain CochardCEO of Hack'celerationBright Data scores 4.2/5 overall vs Browse AI 3.8/5, and wins 4 of the 5 rounds. Browse AI takes ease of use.

Round 1 · Ease of use

01 Round 1: getting the first scrape live.

Bright Data
3.8/5
WinnerBrowse AI
Browse AI
4.3/5
Our verdictEase of use · Winner : Browse AI

Browse AI takes this 4.3 to 3.8, and it is not close on day one. Point-and-click robots are genuinely functional in 5 to 15 minutes: we built a Shopify scraper in 7 minutes, and the AI detected the data pattern without config 8 times out of 12 tested sites. The free tier (no credit card) lets a team evaluate before committing, and a non-technical user is operational in under 2 hours on standard sites.

Bright Data is the opposite experience. There is no self-service trial, the trial needs a sales call and a credit-card discussion, and the dashboard splits into 5 separate products (Proxy Network, Web Unlocker, Scraping Browser, Datasets, Custom Scrapers), each with its own config. We spent 20 minutes just picking the right product for a LinkedIn job. Plan on 2 to 3 days before you are productive, and code is always required. Once you are in, the docs are excellent, but the ramp is steep.

Round 2 · Value for money

02 Round 2: where the bill actually lands.

Bright Data
3.2/5
WinnerBright Data
Browse AI
2.8/5
Our verdictValue for money · Winner : Bright Data

Bright Data edges this 3.2 to 2.8, and both scores are low for a reason: each has a billing trap. Bright Data's $3/1K Web Unlocker sounds steep until you remember it buys 99%+ success on protected sites where free proxies return nothing, and committed plans drop residential from $8.40/GB to $3/GB. The honest bémol per costbench.com (June 2026): the advertised 25% off APIs and 50% off residential is promotional, and it doubles after 3 months. A team starting near $2.50/GB finds the bill jumping past $5/GB at month 4. Budget for the real rate, not the sticker.

Browse AI looks cheaper at $19 to $69/mo annual, but credits mislead. One page load is 1 credit, yet pagination or infinite scroll costs 5 to 10 credits per page, and authenticated sessions that expire silently burn credits without delivering data (syncgtm.com, June 2026). We exhausted a Professional plan in 3 weeks on a 50-site project. For mid-scale technical work, Apify PAYG is often cheaper than either.

Round 3 · Features and depth

03 Round 3: raw power and reach.

Bright Data
4.8/5
WinnerBright Data
Browse AI
4.2/5
Our verdictFeatures and depth · Winner : Bright Data

Bright Data wins this 4.8 to 4.2, and it is the clearest gap of the five. The core is a 400M+ residential IP network across 195 countries, where Browse AI has no proxy network at all. The Web Unlocker bypasses Cloudflare, Akamai, DataDome and PerimeterX with no config, and in our test it cleared 99.3% on LinkedIn, Amazon and Google. Add the Scraping Browser for JS-heavy sites, city-level geo-targeting, native CAPTCHA solving, a mobile proxy network, and daily-refreshed AI-ready datasets in Parquet, and you have infrastructure built for ML pipelines.

Browse AI is strong in a narrower lane: change monitoring with configurable triggers (price, stock, new content) and 250+ prebuilt robots, and its AI re-adapts robots when a site's structure shifts, where Bright Data needs manual selector updates on custom scrapers. The catches are real though: minimum monitoring interval is 1 hour (no flash-sale alerts), shadow DOM is not supported, and there is no built-in CAPTCHA solving. Depth to Bright Data, no-code monitoring to Browse AI.

Round 4 · Customer support and assistance

04 Round 4: who answers when it breaks.

Bright Data
4.4/5
WinnerBright Data
Browse AI
4.1/5
Our verdictCustomer support and assistance · Winner : Bright Data

Bright Data takes this 4.4 to 4.1, and the difference is depth of help rather than speed. Across 4 contacts over 6 weeks, chat answered in 2 to 4 hours and a booked data-expert call (on $1K+/mo plans) actually cut our request volume 20% through better targeting. When their Web Unlocker timed out once, they fixed it within 24 hours and proactively credited the account for downtime. Account managers come on $1K+/mo plans, dedicated Slack on enterprise, and the docs run 200+ guides with examples in 8 languages.

Browse AI's support is solid for self-sufficient users: email answered consistently under 24 hours across 4 contacts over 2 months, with technically competent replies (custom CSS selectors, wait-time configs). The honest caveats: live chat is Premium-only ($500+/mo), so a $69 to $87 plan waits 24h to debug a broken robot, the team is US-based (overnight for EU), and the community forum is small at 5 to 10 posts a week. Neither is flawless, but Bright Data offers SLAs Browse AI does not.

Choose Bright Data if you need technical support SLAs and account management.

Browse AI

Choose Browse AI if you are self-sufficient and email turnaround is enough.

Round 5 · Available integrations

05 Round 5: native stack vs 7,000 apps.

Bright Data
4.7/5
WinnerBright Data
Browse AI
4.6/5
Our verdictAvailable integrations · Winner : Bright Data

The narrowest round, 4.7 to 4.6 for Bright Data, and it really comes down to which stack you live in. Bright Data is built for data engineering: first-class AWS, Azure and GCP, real-time Snowflake and Databricks loading (we streamed 5,000 LinkedIn profiles to Snowflake with zero CSV exports), official SDKs for Python, Node, Java, C#, Go and PHP, plus Parquet output and webhooks. The gap: no native Zapier or Make connectors, so no-code piping needs custom webhooks.

Browse AI flips that. It plugs into 7,000+ apps via Zapier, Make and Pabbly, syncs Google Sheets in real time, maps Airtable fields, and exposes a documented REST API (1,000 req/hr on Professional). The bémol: no official Python or Node SDK (raw HTTP only), and the Zapier dependency adds $20 to $70+/mo for Zapier itself. Bright Data takes the narrow edge because its native integrations carry no middleware cost, but for an automation team already on Zapier, Browse AI is the better fit.

FAQ · 10 questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Bright Data or Browse AI cheaper?
It depends on volume and target sites. Browse AI is far cheaper to start: a genuine free tier and Personal at $19/mo annual, while Bright Data has no self-serve free plan and a Web Unlocker entry near $499/mo. But Browse AI credits burn fast, with 5 to 10 credits per page on pagination, so above roughly 200K pages a month it becomes prohibitive. At 300K Amazon pages a month, Bright Data Web Unlocker costs about $900 while Browse AI would need around 3M credits and a custom quote. So Browse AI wins for small monitoring, Bright Data wins for protected sites at volume.
  • Is Browse AI free and is Bright Data free?
Browse AI offers a real free-forever plan with 50 credits a month, 2 websites and no credit card, enough to test but not to run production (50 credits is 50 page loads). Bright Data has no self-service free tier: the advertised trial requires a sales demo call and a credit-card discussion, and the minimum viable paid commitment is around $499 a month for the Web Unlocker API. If you want to evaluate scraping with zero friction and zero cost, Browse AI is the only one of the two you can try in five minutes.
  • Bright Data vs Browse AI vs Apify, which is cheapest for mid-scale scraping?
At roughly 100K pages a month, Browse AI Professional is often insufficient on the cheapest tier and pushes you to $87 to $319 a month, Bright Data Web Unlocker PAYG is about $300 a month at $3/1K, and Apify pay-as-you-go runs roughly $49 to $100 a month with your own actors. Apify usually wins on price at this mid-scale for teams with light developer resources. Bright Data wins only when the target sites need serious anti-bot bypassing, and Browse AI wins when you have no developer at all and the sites are standard.
  • Can Browse AI bypass Cloudflare or scrape LinkedIn at scale?
No. Browse AI has no built-in CAPTCHA solving or anti-bot bypass. In testing it was blocked after 3 LinkedIn profile pages and triggered CAPTCHAs on Amazon. You can manually wire external residential proxies and a third-party solver like 2Captcha, but that adds cost and complexity, and at that point Bright Data or Apify deliver better value. Bright Data, by contrast, cleared 99%+ on 5,000 LinkedIn profiles in our test because the Web Unlocker handles residential IP rotation and anti-bot bypass natively. For protected sites at scale, Bright Data is the realistic choice.
  • How fast does Browse AI burn through credits on a real project?
Faster than the plan page suggests. One page load is 1 credit, but pagination or infinite scroll costs 5 to 10 credits per page, and authenticated sessions that expire silently can burn credits without delivering any data, a silent-failure issue documented in 2026 reviews. On a 50-site competitor-monitoring project we exhausted the Professional plan in about 3 weeks. Monitoring 500 accounts realistically needs 15,000+ credits a month. Budget for the worst case on pagination-heavy sources and check robot logs often, because a broken robot can quietly drain a plan.
  • What is the catch with Bright Data's promotional pricing?
Bright Data currently advertises 25% off its Web Scraper APIs and 50% off residential proxies, which looks great at signup. The catch, documented by costbench.com in June 2026, is that this promotional pricing doubles after 3 months. A team that starts at around $2.50/GB on residential finds the bill jumping past $5/GB at month 4. It is not hidden, but it is easy to miss when you budget from the sticker rate. Plan your costs on the post-promo price, not the introductory one, and negotiate a committed plan if your volume justifies it.
  • What does the EU AI Act (August 2026) mean for Bright Data and Browse AI users?
The EU AI Act's general-purpose AI provisions take effect on 2 August 2026. GPAI model providers must document their training-data sources, including top domains scraped, and respect robots.txt and TDM opt-outs. Teams building AI training datasets now need a documented scraping trail. Bright Data's enterprise compliance infrastructure, with audit logs and DPAs, makes that achievable, while Browse AI lacks the audit-trail depth for enterprise GPAI documentation. Non-compliance fines reach up to 3% of global turnover or 15M euros. For regulated AI work, this points firmly to Bright Data.
  • Is Bright Data GDPR compliant and can it be used for EU data?
Yes. Bright Data is fully GDPR-compliant, has appointed EDPO as its EU Article 27 representative, offers Data Processing Agreements for EU customers and maintains EU infrastructure for data localization. Browse AI offers only basic compliance, adequate for SMBs but without enterprise-grade audit logs. In both cases, compliance for your specific use case, especially scraping personal data, remains your legal responsibility: the tool provides compliant infrastructure, not legal authorization to scrape. For GDPR-sensitive projects, consult legal counsel before you start.
  • Can you migrate from Browse AI to Bright Data?
Partially. Bright Data's 20+ instant scraper APIs for Amazon, LinkedIn and Google can replace many Browse AI prebuilt robots. The harder part is monitoring: Bright Data has webhooks and notifications but no native visual change-monitoring dashboard, so you would rebuild alerting logic. The migration needs developer resources and roughly 1 to 2 weeks of setup. For teams with light technical resources, a hybrid approach is often more practical than a full migration: keep Browse AI for no-code monitoring and use Bright Data for deep scraping on protected sites.
  • Bright Data vs Browse AI for LinkedIn scraping, which actually works?
Bright Data works at scale: 5,000 LinkedIn profiles extracted at 99%+ success in our testing, because it handles residential IP rotation and anti-bot bypass for you. Browse AI fails here, blocked after 3 profile pages. Neither tool supplies LinkedIn accounts, so you provide credentials for authenticated data. For LinkedIn at scale without managing accounts, Bright Data's pre-built, daily-refreshed LinkedIn dataset is the most reliable path. Browse AI is better kept for standard, non-protected sites where its no-code robots shine.
