You'll learn what a token is (roughly 4 characters), how to count tokens before calling the API, estimate costs per request, and monitor your usage in the Anthropic dashboard with real-time consumption insights.

We'll see strategies to reduce costs: shorten prompts without losing effectiveness, use Haiku for simple tasks vs Opus for complex ones, cache frequent requests, and limit max_tokens to avoid overspending on long responses.
